Japan Times interviews Takeru Kobayashi
Japan Times has an interview with Takeru Kobayashi about The Good, The Bad, The Hungry. He says that while he is pleased with the film, it did not fully convey his side of his dispute with MLE.
The documentary showed my rivalry with Joey Chestnut, but I had more of a problem with George Shea,” he says. “He used Joey Chestnut to conceal the fact that he had a problem with me. George Shea was employed by Nathan’s, so if you look at the bigger picture, the problem was really between me and Nathan’s. That doesn’t come across in the documentary.

I doubt that Kobayashi ever had any direct contact with a Nathan’s representative though George Shea would have, I think, discussed what to do about Kobayashi or what to offer.

nathans is the only reason they exist. They use profits from 4th of july contest so they could run their circuit which is a total farce

Friendship and camaraderie and being admired and loved is all Kobe cares about That means more to him than competing . Trust me this is what he told me personally

Kobi will never compete against Joey again unless they make him an offer he can’t refuse and we all know that will never happen because of the cheapness of the powers that be even though they have many millions just sitting there collecting dust.

The Sheas are clueless when it comes to prompting just look at their YT page if you want evidence . Good thing they are not in the music biz or they would fall flat on their faces . . Thank their lucky stars for Nathans and ESPN which fell right in their lap pr they would have closed shop 15yrs ago

I wouldn’t go as far to say that they are collecting millions but it is public info that they Chestnut is on their payroll . Question is for how much?
