Mashed.com has a list titled "Professional eating champions who were seriously injured" which includes Takeru Kobayashi, Sonya Thomas, Ed "Cookie" Jarvis, and Wayne Algenio. The article does not mention Dana Hutchings passing away after choking in a taco eating contest in Fresno last year or any other competitive eating fatality.

Wtf is up with mashed.com?? First they do a profile of miki that starts with the most negative thing they could find, now they try to label competitive eating as dangerous. Of course there are injuries, there are injuries in every sport!!! They fail to attempt to analyze or even mention the low rate of injury in organized eating contests. They are being lame.

Had it not been for competitive eating, Juliet Lee may very well still be alive. That so called sport very likely cost Ms Lee her life! Someone went through great pain, and perhaps much expense, to keep details of her untimely death out of the news. More than a few people still wonder about the reason for the total absence of information.

You also have to hope that Sonya Thomas is all right given that she has been radio silent for over two years.

Surprised Wayne’s fat ass hasn’t choked on any of his food. He’s getting very big .

It is strange, but does anyone really care? She has been out of the mle picture for so long. I think those guys would almost welcome tragedy to anyone that is no longer an asset to them.

May she be remembered in a positive light.

I wonder if anywhere will highlight football, MMA, baseball, wrestling, Olympic sports, or anything done at a very high level…….normal “jobs” included. Lifespans are shortened, dangers and stressors are heightened, CE is not alone in being “dangerous”

I cannot believe a certain New York eater hasn’t choked while performing his 13 hot dog & bun record.
