Pete tried the 76oz last summer with arnine chapman and his crew and bitched about how terrible the meat was as an excuse to why he couldnt break the record. Pete you never revealed the time it took you to finish the J&R steak . 25 min? half hour maybe more. That you wont mention huh?

I think that Furious Pete is the greatest competitive eater of all time and he would certinly knock off Kobyashi in one try if Koby wasnt afraid of him.

wanna bet he could only eat a little more than half the hot dogs chestnt eats which is why he hasnt posted a practice . He practiced with hot dogs then when he realized he had to stop at 37 or somewhere around there he didnt want to show it to the public and erased video

I say good for anyone who can eat a 72 oz steak that quickly. Those who bitch and whine about Pete, Cookie, or any other eater should post a vid of them doing it at a restaurant of their choice. There is no realistic record unless it is done at the same restaurant, so Cookie still has a record, as does Pete, and Joey has it at the Big Texan.

To anon at 718. How does eating a 72 oz steak devolve into a discussion about HDBs? Stay on topic.

That’s just awesome! I’m fixing to attempt a 64 oz steak in a couple weeks. (with 2 sides and a basket of dinner rolls). I doubt I’ll beat any records, but I’m hoping for less than 20 minutes.

4/16/05 It has been reported that Competitive Eaters: Charles Hardy 29:30; Brian Seiken 33:00; Allen Goldstein 40:00; Tim Janus 41:20; Crazy Legs Conti 45:00-all successfully completed the J&R Steakhouse Challenge at the Stonybrook, LI location. Although the World Record for this feat was set by the great Cookie Jarvis who gobbled down one of the meat monsters in an unbelievable 7min 15 seconds to break the World Record previously set by Cincinnati Reds pitcher Frank Pastore in the 1970’s. Other notable Eaters who have successfully attempted this feat are AICE’s Bulldozer Johnson in 15 minutes and ChowHound Chapman in 21 minutes.

fact said on 4/2008 is correct . This challenge took place in 2005 at J&R as a possible segment for MTV true life featuring Tim Janus. It was cut out of the show because Janus finished the steak in 41 minutes . He was expected to wire the field but he must have had a big meal before the challenge or wasnt that hungry. Remember Tim was just starting to come into his own back then and was prone to having an off day once in awhile . It the challenge took place now , i am sure he would polish it off in under 10 min.
