Hot dog eating challenges in forum threads

A forum thread on twoplustwo.com is documenting a bet on an attempt to eat 450 hot dogs during the month of April (15 hot dogs a day) (via Michael Fortenberry)

A male commenter on AmpleCuties says he intends to eat 36 hot dogs in 10 minutes during a webcam session, and then 50 HDB at the Hartford Nathan’s qualifier and 70 at Coney Island on July 4.

Oh man, I honestly think someone could die if they ate 15 hot dogs a day for a month. It reminds me of the effect all that fast food had on Morgan Spurlock in Super Size Me. That challenge will not end well.

In 2001 while training for Nathans I ate 17 hot dogs a day from March 1st to July 3rd as my sole meal and only meal per day.

did anybody view his cam? I noticed he hasn’t posted his results.

    36, 50 and 70 indeed.

Going from 36 to 70 hotdogs in just 3 months is a very unlikely progression but who knows… BTW does that mean MLE has already answered some people about their applies for Nathan’s?

Can we all just agree that Beautiful Brian should be banned from this site? At first I was entertained by his insistence to turn each post about him, but lately it’s just annoying and having him take a shot at OJ on the Vandam Obit is the last straw. Its not funny. His family will stumble across that post many times over the coming years.

Anony: 11 a.m.: Banning Brian from the site won’t deter him from making idiotic, self-centered comments. Just ignore him. When you fail to recognize that he exists, it drives destroys his fragile ego. Eventually, when no one gives him any attention he’ll go away. Get ready for another Brian rant fest over my comments … 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, liftoff. He’ll start pointing fingers and speculating about who I am. Further alienating others that he accuses. Throw foaming-at-the mouth, foully-worded insults. Further alienating others who come to this site for information and enjoyment. I don’t care what Brian thinks about me, competitive eating, or anything else. Nor should anyone else.

What makes this guy so sure that he is competing in Hartford? I haven’t received my conformation yet.

I sent the link for the 2+2 bet. He’s streaming every hot dog live, also being recorded. He’s finished 105 for the month as of this morning.

There’s no way someones going from 36 to 70 hot dogs in just 3 months. He couldn’t train enough to make that happen in such a short time. Even with the capacity to take in that many, he still has to have the speed and technique to do it.

Obviously he’s a internet eating all star (look at any YouTube video and read comments about how 90% of the people can do that feat or better… in which I always wonder why they don’t do it, I mean YouTube is that exact forum where you can back up your claims). While I may stand corrected and end up eating crow on my assessment but, I thinks this guy hasn’t actually ate 36 dogs in one sitting (forget in 10 minutes). Maybe he ate 2 hot dogs in 45 seconds and thinks he can keep that pace for 10 full minutes. Who knows?

As for getting confirmation emails, the top talents already know where they are going, all the other amateurs and lower ranked guys will have to wait. He most likely signed up for the Hartford and just assumed he’s gonna get in… Best of Luck to him though as Eater X qualified there last year there.

I don’t think any amateur has ever broken even 25 dogs in their first attempt at a Nathan’s qualifier, let alone double that number.

Anony 11 a.m.: Yep right on time. Brian is so predictable. As Einstein once said, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” This time, however, he didn’t resort to showing everybody he doesn’t know the difference between a typo and a spelling error — that’s one of my favorites and really underscores his desperation when he has nothing to argue against. I’m also disappointed he didn’t try to specifically blame someone by name for pointing out his instabilities. On a Brian scale of one to nine, I’d have to give this rant an eight. He only used one obscenity and it only pointed out his imbecile homophobic hatred for gay people. Nor, was it more than three pages. When Brian gets all “manifesto,” that’s when he’s really gets rolling on the crazy train. Oh well, I’m sure they’ll be a lot more rants to come. Sit back and enjoy the show.

didnt Pat Vandam eat 30 in his first Qualifier?

We’ll have to keep an eye on this guy here as he is just assuming that he is in the contest because he filled out the page. The training predictions sound like someone who has never done it before (i’ve been there!) and will be tempered the very first time he does a trial run. I dont recommend doing your first one live.

I dunno about Vandam but i remember chip simpson doing 38, and joey doing just something over 25.

Wrong, Gastroboy. Joey did 20.5. Great memory.

Here’s what I don’t get. Why do people on this site always post about “remembering” things that are wrong, when they could so easily use the database here or the IFOCE’s site to find the facts and post correctly?

I believe Pat Vandam did eat 30 in his first qualifier in Minneapolis a couple of years ago. I thought Chip Simpson did 39 or 39 1/2 in a Florida qualifier a few years ago—-2006 , I think.

Sorry Anom @ 9:51 am You are right, i should have checked that data. I guess the .5 messed things up in my memories LOL. I was in a rush though. It’s not that difficult for whoever is interested in the data to re-check it and correct me like you did. Whatsoever, my bad, i take it, ok? Never gonna happen again.

BTW Nathan’s registration status mails are already been send.

So I was bored today and wanted to bump this thread. I see the original Thread to the 36 guy has been removed and didn’t look like he hit his goal in Hartford.
