aside from first second place and wing kong i dont believe any of the other totals. I was there . Some had tons of shit in the mouth which should not count towards the personal best they claim to have eaten

I think O.J. should ban these anonymous assholes who have nothing to do but put down everybody, that is except for me, of couse. For the record, I agree with Bubba. I think the Male and hie will make it next year.

Thanks Anon at 3:30. I will make Coney next year. Hot dogs are very difficult to do and definitely take a while (for some people) to get better at. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Very proud of Steakbellie today. Although he wants nothing more then to be at Coney Island too, he broke the deuce and set a personal best.

Man, the stage was hot! Temp was bad enough but being on flat bed tow trucks kicked it up even worse. Booker came out of retirement like he never left. He gave everyone a head start and still owned the table. Yasir was strong and standing next to Jim, I really thought he was going to give Badlands a run. Congrats to Steakbellie on the Deuce. I know it’s not Coney, but not a bad way to close the season.

The wife you sound as though you have been around competitive eating for quite some time. Find it unusual for you to make that remark about Booker coming out of retirement like he never left considering you dont know him to begin with

U.S. Male delivered – and should advance in the rankings soon, SteakBellie springs a big 20 under his kilt, and BadBoy Badlands (I’m telling your mean trainer) is back at the BigBoy table. Buffalo Jim, a great total, you shoulda headed to the Peach state!

    I’m feeling the LOVE!
All of you guys know how hard it is to hit ‘your number’. I’ve been trying to hit 20 for three years and I just couldnt think of a better way to do it than with my friends and family present. Eating next to Booker in his triumphant return, could only help me.

Booker pulled a Kobayashi and let his opponents have the first bite…in fact he let me eat my entire first dog before digging in! Great Move!

Rich Shea was fearless at the mic, and we got to hear some Booker ft. AquaFresh. The locals showed respect.

Lots of new faces and stomachs at this one, and many of them pulled off numbers of a Veteran. Great to meet you guys, this sport is getting tougher and tougher

I know I didnt make it to Coney, but I feel pretty damn good. Congrats to all the Champions, I’ll raise a beer or nine to you on the Fourth

Everyone did a great job. Booker never lost a step in his time off. He was a great champion. When he got the trophy, you could see he was wanting a MLE win for a long time. Steakbellie has a certain glow to him before the contest. I believe he and some others added condiments to the hot dogs. It was a fun relaxed atmosphere and a good way to end the qualifiers on the east coast for the year.

I try not to reply too much to anonymous comments, but that is pretty uncalled for anonymous 11:30am. I always have told people good job when I think they did a good job. . .I didn’t suddenly start doing it now that I got into Coney. What are you even talking about? Steakbellie is a good guy and he was happy he broke the deuce. . .so I’m genuinely happy for him. I don’t have any motive other than that. It’s called being a nice guy, you might want to look into it.

  35. Anonymous said

No disagreement that Steakbellie is both a good guy and deserving of his number. Don’t be so paranoid.

I don’t think he “snuck in”. It was a qualifier just like the rest. Open to everyone who was able to sign up in time. It’s like any other sport, sometimes teams make it to the big dance with less than stellar records. Like the 1973 Miracle Mets. They made it to the World Series with an 82-79 regular season record.

Sorry to continue to hijack this thread which shouldn’t be about me anyway. All I want to say is that I think it is pretty strange that enthusiasm and positivity rubs certain people the wrong way. Maybe it comes across as arrogant or disingenuous somehow. I can’t convince haters that I am a good guy, nor should I really be giving it a second thought enough to be replying like this. I guess I just can’t help myself. So the last thing I’ll say is thanks to everyone who has been supportive of me and I look forward to hanging out with everyone in Coney!
