Were Joey and Matt the only ranked eaters in this one? Looks like a lot of the others were eating chili. The numbers increased at a pretty steady rate and then take a suddenly take a jump of >200% with those two.

Kobayashi has been beat plenty of times by Joey before. To automatically assume he would win this contest and throw out some random number is pretty ridiculous. These taco in both size and contents are obviously different than other contests and therefore not comparable. Kobayashi would have done good no doubt but he would have had his work cut out for him.

Kobi would have made short work of those two. The few times Joey has beaten Kobi it was by a very small margin, and pretty much only hot dogs. Kobi won with ease over your boy Joey in both Chicken Satay and real competitive eating of Krystals, without the water. Joey needs a gimmick to win, like dunking and drinking food. Kobi is an eater. Kobi also happens to have the record for pan seared cow brains, and he would excel in this exotic food. Also, just look at Joey and Kobi at the end of a contest. Kobi looks fairly fresh. Joey looks like he is in pain. Nope, I have no doubt. Kobi is the best competitive eater in the world, and he has been since 2001.

@ Telescopy, by Kobi looking fairly fresh you mean like in 2007 at Nathan’s when he had a reversal at the end and still lost by 3?

Telescopy are you saying that Kobe was like the black sheep of the family ? Most of them had real professions while Kobe couldnt do much of anything else but eat

Telescopy Joey Chestnut wont live very long with the way he’s going . I think he knows it . The human stomach can only take so much before it bursts. Do you notice how much he sweats when he eats hot dogs? A massive heart attack waiting to happen. Age is the only factor holding him up

@ 10:10 the stomach is actually incredibly durable. The threat of it actually bursting is basically an impossibility. There isn’t enough space available in your body cavity for it to expand the amount it would need to explode and you would most likely throw long before that. Sweating is probably a result of the energy it takes to eat that much that fast. The heart attack comment is obviously a cop-out. The threat of a heart attack is largely determined by your genetics. Some people can eat clean and normal and drop dead from one at 30 while others have KFC everyday, smoke, and drink and live into their 80’s. If Joey isn’t genetically prone to a heart attack then I’d say he’s fine because he is by no means close to the size where that becomes a threat due to lifestyle habit. Most of the top eaters realize the responsibility it takes to partake in these events and are pretty healthy outside of competition.

It is inhuman and callous to have eating contests longer than 4 or 5 minutes for any food, and if the food is dense and highly caloric it should be only 2 or 3 minutes. Making them longer is not only making participants look more like freaks, it is taking a serious toll on their health, and consequently, their life spans, just so the sponsors and eating organizations can use them as pawns and make a few more bucks. It is also a waste of food when they go out back and barf it up, in an attempt to lessen the pain, discomfort, and health threat.
