It as low down dirty shame that this adam richman gets that plum job on t.v not beinga profesional eater, for all the blood swet and tears many of us gave , he never paid his dues and look where ehe is .

The fact that he is NOT a pro is what makes the show interesting. Everybody knows all the top pros can finish any eating challenge without much trouble.

You are so right Don. It’s a travesty of competitive eating justice. Someone needs to confront him and set him strate.

I would have to agree with Don. I personally think he is fat jerk but somewhat entertaining or else i wouldnt bother posting his shows on my site. I applied for his position some months ago which was a total waste of my time. The casting director is a phoney bitch who gives you the impression that your’e hired when in truth they have their man picked out for the job .Don is correct . They should have hired someone that has paid their dues in the sport. I think i would have been perfect for the job as well as Don , Toro or maybe one or two others. I’m starting to dislike him and might cease posting his shows altogether.

I agree with Brian and Moses, every sport whether its baseball or hockey or whatever when a top player retires they become an announcer or coach, what does CE have in store for there eaters when they retire , nothing no retirement pkg nothing . its a shame

What does CE have in store for there eaters when they retire? Conti has the announcer job locked up before he’s even retired the same way he gets a locked up spot for nathans by winning a set up contest at saratoga 10 months before the finals at coney island

The host is ok. it’s the premise that has problems. How long before we tire of watching him stuff his face. The plots, if you can call them that, are all pretty much the same.
“look at this big pile of food!”, “watch me try to eat it”, “I did/didn’t – tune in next week” It’s aging faster than raw hamburger left on the counter for three days. The only excitement is if he is in a location that you may have visited.
If IFOCE/MLE or AICE wants some free, fast publicity, they should send their eaters to follow-up, and finish off the challenges that Adam fails at. His “misses” could provide either/both organizations more “hits”.

This is an outrage.sneaking in that fat shit adam rich to ifoce sanctioned events. I will bring this issue to a higher level above the sheabehrs. The grand high exalted minister of competitive eating will hear from me alot sooner than you think. Lerman & Seiken have been used and abused way too long. They got gats do you hear me. You don’t DVR Man vs. Food to gaze at Adam Richman and take in his profound commentary, observations and insight. You watch it (hopefully in HD) for, you guessed it, the food. Who watches that show and does not ponder their next meal or cringe at the thought of your fridge’s current state? Man vs. Food is a simple yet intriguing show that really centers on showcasing local favorites and the challenges that demand selfish attention. Granted, some of the challenges are not original if not outright impossible. Richman is no Bourdain or Boulud, not even close. But who cares if he hasn’t paid his dues? Its TV, not the Cosa Nostra. In TV it is all about what works. Richman’s jolly attitude makes the show work…

The show is good. Adam is funny. I am a kid and I could probably finish more challenges than he could, but his sense of humor makes the show good. He may not be a professional at Competitive Eating, but he is pretty good, so get off his back

there just isn’t any justification in having him over a competitive eating veteran on that show , it should be boycotted by every competitive eater from every organization , their families , friends and neighbors.

Richman stinks said

Moses Lerman would have been perfect for the part. His vibrant personality along with his jokes would have been the perfect fit for the part. Adam Richman looks like some dumb jerk that mopped the floors in restaurants . He claims he held every job in the restaurant business? He can’t even flip pancakes correctly. I would love to wipe that dumb ass smile from his face every time they show him walking into another eating establishment. Love when he tells a woman “I think i fell in love with you” God help me if any sane female would have sex with him let alone be seen with him. Real mommas boy that probably doesnt have a GF or a possible homosexual

The show should not be boycotted. The reason it’s on is to show good places to eat if you travel and if you have a huge appetite like me, some awesome food challenges.

anonymous shutup . stop trying to make yourself out to be a goody two shoe and take thorton melon and pratts side . Nice guys finish last . The best way to go through life is to have a chip on your shoulder and be negative. Be nice to people and they step on you every chance they get. Adam richman sucks . That’s where its at
Not right said
February 8, 2009 @ 5:36 pm
thorton is right . Certain eaters get huge paydays and many others get very little in return for their services on television. It is not fair and something should be done about it. This is a blog where people are supposed to speak their minds and not hold back how they feel. Most of you are cowards to begin with

No, so y’all continue to waste time on this thread while I continue to better myself so i maybe i can get greenlighted for the next project.

Booker,
I think the problem is, some people are never going to be happy.
If someone like myself, who has done national tv and going to do more (I think I applied to a craigslist ad about Man Vs Food before it had a name, incidentally, awhile ago) and is in CE but is still relatively considered a rookie, they’d probably still get pissed that I would have gotten it because I wasn’t a so called “legend”.
So I don’t know under what terms they expect the the Travel channel to cast for something like this.
I think what most people have to understand is that whomever Travel channel was going to cast, if charismatic enough, the show will still get ratings. Meaning that these “legends” are small potatoes to the Travel channel.
Most of these shows are unknowns or people made famous by the show they’re on, so I guess people in other industries should be pissed and maybe we’ll have a revolution that will be televised after all.

Stop Whining you eaters said
March 6, 2009 @ 6:44 am
Adam is the host because he is NOT a pro eater, which makes it more interesting and is the whole point.
He also happens to have a good personality/appearance for TV (unlike most of you I’m sure).
Why don’t you stop whining because you are jealous about not being on TV and go and get a proper job!!
What next – professional breathers??? professional pooers??? professional sleepers??? get a grip
Lastly just remember this programme is NOT about professional eating so should’t apply to you!
