Today is the 50th anniversary of a ceremony held at Nathan's Coney Island location on June 30, 1967 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the invention of the hot dog. At that event, Walter Paul reportedly ate 127 hot dogs. (A picture of an unnamed model at the centennial)

    The greatest competitive eaters who have had the greatest impact on Men’s and Women’s Competitive Eating:
    1. Takeru Kabayashi: No eater has doubled the total of HDBs eaten from the previous year, as he did with his 2001 50-HDB performance. If someone comes along and does 150, he’ll replace Kobi. Kobayashi is the pioneer of CE as we know it today.
    2. Sonya Thomas has eaten at the Nathan’s Finals for 14 consecutive years, longer than anyone else, male or female. Also, look at her number of victories over those 14 years. (I stopped counting at 50.)
    3. Eric Booker has the longest longevity of any competitive eater, which now spans two decades.
    4. Crazy Legs Conti has been the best ambassador of competitive eating for over a decade, with his ultra-positive attitude, his unquenchable enthusiasm, and his ability to promote the sport, both verbally, and through his writings. No one does it better.
    5. The opposite of CL, Dale Boone is the Donald Trump of CE, in that most people vehemently dislike him, but he brings attention to himself, and the sport; people love to abhor him. He is to CE what JR Ewing was the the 70s show, “Dallas.”

    Brian was never beautiful. His contributions were always self-serving, masked by an appearance to promote or seek the friendship of others, only to turn against those people when they didn’t live up to his expectations of them to return the favor multifold.

    Whenever he promoted someone on his site, or in a Youtube video (or gave them something they never asked for), he looked for private, as well as public, acknowledgement on his terms, and on his schedule. When this wasn’t done to his satisfaction, and it never was, by anyone, Mr. Seiken would publicly throw that person under the bus, as punishment.

    Brian’s way-or-the-highway attitude toward others forced would-be friends on the next train leaving town.

    I think that pretty much sums it up.

    635 you are one narrow minded biased sack of shit. Brian did plenty to help new eaters while asking 0 favors in return. There is a long list of eaters whom he put in a good word via email to the Sheas or in person in an effort to get them aboard or help the new eaters get to the top of the mountain. . Subich Sudo Furious Pete just to name a few . When Badlands retired in 2008 he was still registering for contests but requests were ignored. When Brian met with Rich and Dave to promote the stick to blogging cd for an upcoming film documentary, Badlands name came up and Seiken insisted Badlands should be part of the project . They had NP with it but project never got off the ground. On the flip side I dont believe that Badlands ever reciprocated by plugging Brian name to the Sheas for any future media gig when Badlands image resurfaced again. Brian also sent Stephanie Torres a few lbs of Nathans hot dogs priority mail because they didnt sell them where she lives. He asked for nothing in return except for a thank you which he never got. 635 will probably fire back with his or her’s one sided hate “Well nobody asked you to send her hot dogs” In other words if your name is Brian Seiken you deserve nothing in return not even a thank you right? As far Brian seeking private, as well as public, acknowledgement on his terms, and on his schedule Is a bunch of bullshit If he actually did throw someone under the bus it was either a character flaw he spotted which was usually spot on or he had a damn good reason to do so. Did i make myself clear ? In your case i doubt it

    You can shit on seiken all you want but the proof was in pudding when it came to overall traffic on his website. Whether they hated him or liked him, they flocked to his website on multiple occasions during the course of the day for his bits and pieces updates alone. BB corner the internet show was watched by numerous fans throughout the US during its run from Jan 2006 to 2008 . It served its purpose quite well
