Thanks for always keeping us updated OJ. Sorry for the people who leave comments like the previous one. We wouldn’t know about 95% of the non professional contests if you didn’t post about them before or even afterwards. I just found out about a contest in my area which was not advertised and can now be on the lookout for it in the future since you posted about it over the weekend. Eaters, whether they be professional or an aspiring eater, never know when they could be traveling around and be near one of these smaller contests (we just found out about a contest we will be a few miles from when we are traveling next month). Ever opportunity to eat, in a sanctioned or small contest is taken seriously by most eaters and I appreciate hearing about every contest, and you never know when new talent will emerge. Thanks for all the hard work.

I agree with Laura. Keep the “minor league” contest announcements coming.

I agree with Laura. This kind of article is useful a site like this. IFOCE and AICE events are great, but aspiring eaters can use this kind of information. The more people that know about smaller events, the better the competition will be. Better competition leads to more contests and better prizes.

A true competitive eater would do it for the trophy alone, the prize money is secondary, don’t get me wrong its nice to win a big pursre, but a contest with a purse and no trophy … I ‘d stay home…don lerman

You’re right, Don. It’s fun to compete, prize or not. That’s what’s nice about posts like this. More people get a chance to learn about the contests. I’m sure I’ve missed contests that I could have attended due to lack of publicity.

I TOTALLY agree with Laura. I’m not sure how OJ can even keep up with all the goings on. That’s a lot of work! You’re one of a kind OJ!

I really admire the research you do, OJ. This is hands down the most informative eating web site and also the best!
