Nathan’s quarterly earnings decline

Newsday reports that 2nd quarter earnings for Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs declined to $1.8 million from $3.1 million in 2005. No explanation for the decrease is provided in the article. Nathan’s did say that earning from continuing operations increased 14.1 percent to $1.5 million. Buisnesswire has more details about Nathan’s results.

updated Bob Shoudt says that the drop in Nathan’s non-continuing earnings is due to the sale of a parcel of land in 2005 and 2006.

Nathan’s realized gains of $400,000 and $2,819,000, during the 2006 and 2005 periods, respectively, from the sale of a previously owned vacant parcel of land and adjacent leasehold interest.

    =

Less land to sell this year.

Their numbers are actually UP this year.

Anonymous, by “they” I take it you mean the Nathan’s people. They don’t share because they don’t need to. They contract with the IFOCE. It’s up to the IFOCE to share. Same thing with the IFOCE – they don’t share because they don’t need to. With Krystal showing the way, maybe just maybe the Sheas will come around. But I don’t think so because “Nathan’s” is the big one and the title is the shit. Unless the eaters ask and then back up their talk with actions nothing will change.

aside from Chestnut Kobe and maybe one or two others that might do 40 dogs the rest of the field has nothing to gain by being a part of this event which is why they should demand some bucks. Aside from that , noone will care one way or another about them and if its all about the glory of just being in the finals with no monetary compensation and the pot luck chance the camera might focus on them for a split second , then most of them are darn fools if you ask me.

Anony, I agree. But so many of the top eaters are magnetically attracted to the media attention that I’m afraid they will continue to attend. But, you know what? It would only take one year of Koby versus the bottom three or four qualifiers for the Nathan’s CEO to get the message. (And I mean no disrespect to any lower ranked eater.)

If the eaters don’t stay away, however, as I said before, there should be two events:

Yeah … Koby versus Joey (Yawn … another Koby victory …) (Fifty eight to 55 dogs)
