A commenter reports that Takeru Kobayashi will compete in a pizza eating contest at PIE in Barrie, Ontario (North Toronto area) August 22. The contest will award $1500 and the 24 fastest pizza eaters will qualify for the semifinals.

    This will be a great opportunity for Furious Pete to show where he stands. When hangs with, or beats Kobayashi, it will prove to all you naysayers that he is the real deal!

    Pete does have world class speed, that’s for sure. He’ll hang w/ Koby for up to 5 minutes, unless it involves an easy-to-swallow speed food like baked beans. Then Pete will, well, peter out after 1 minute.
