    Without question, Koby’s defining moment was his first state-side event, 2001, 50 HDBs, doubling the previous record.

    That was the date that competitive eating, as we know it today, was born. Every other record, even the best of the rest, comes up short in comparison.

    The coffee milks were for Food Battle Club on Japanese TV and not an IFOCE/MLE contest.

    I mostly agree w/Rhonda on this.

    Currently, its the arrest though. That should fade w/time.

    Kobi did NOT do 17.7 lbs of cow brains. The 2nd tray only had 5 lbs on it not ten.

    Yeah, it has to be the 50 HDBs in ’01. Before that, the record was 25, which amazed people, but when Koby ate FIFTY, it made the entire world wonder how that was even physically possible.

    In many ways, and I’ve compared Koby to Babe Ruth before, it’s like when Ruth set the single season home run record. Before 1919, the record was 25. Then Ruth hit 29 homers in ’19 and 54 homers the following year.

    He has a lot of great wins, but it has to be 50 hdb. He showed the world what it means to be a pro, and then he became one.

    The coffee milk clip is around, not on youtube though. Awesome indeed, and he doesnt even slow down, in fact he seems to speed up as he goes. Theres also a good one of him eating a huge line of plates of food against a woman who he destroys.

    Good point, Super Paul. Koby ate 89 burgers in that contest and the other nine competitors COMBINED only ate 129. That’s impressive (for Koby, not the other guys).

    My question to the wise and all-knowing OJ Rifkin is, has there ever been a contest involving, say 8 or more competitors, in which the top finisher out ate the entire field? If so, it probably happened in a qualifier event of some sort, but I’m curious. If not, who came closest?

    Paul, in Koby’s mind you guys were still in Hot Pursuit, and Koby likely went all out, because he was scared of what or whom he might see had he looked back.
