Wing Bowl 15 definition of a local
All residents of southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey are not eligible to attempt a Wing Bowl qualifying stunt or enter a Wing Off qualifier. The Wing Bowl rules have the following restriction:
The contest is open to all WIP listeners who are 21 years of age or older who reside in the Philadelphia metropolitan area – Philadelphia Metropolitan area as defined by Arbitron is the following counties: Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, counties in Pennsylvania; Camden, Gloucester, Mercer counties in New Jersey (the five contestants who are entered through the IFOCE’s automatic bids are exempted from the residence requirement).
A map of the region is available. (The map includes Burlington County, NJ, the largest in the map in New Jersey, which is not part of the Wing Bowl area.) This restricts residents of Allentown, Lancaster, Atlantic City and north Delaware from entering and shuts out Garden Staters Pat “from Moonachie” Philbin and Arturo Rios. Residents of Princeton / Trenton, NJ can enter (Mercer County) but the most famous eater from that area would be prohibited by the 21 age minimum in the minimal chance she wanted to enter.

Umm…I dont clearly understand what that means..Am I not allowed to qualify or compete, or am I automatically eligible because I live in the area?

What county do you live in? If you’re in one of the counties, you can try to do a stunt. If you get called up by the ifoce you’re in the circus no matter what. If you do not get called up and you’re not in one of the counties there is no way to get in. What’s so hard to understand people?

Arturo – you’re not eligible because you don’t live in Camden, Gloucester, or Mercer counties; the only way you can get in is to have George Shea pick you, which is a possibility, considering your ranking. You can’t even do a qualifying stunt to get in because you don’t live in one of the eight counties Arbitron considers WIPs listening area (unless you have moved from Long Branch). I’m not eligible because I live in Lehigh county (I could say I live in Chester county, which I do part of the time, but my license doesn’t say that), and it’s unlikely that I’ll get picked to go. Mega Munch is in Dauphin county (ineligible). I think, after re-reading the rules, the only ranked Pennsylvania eaters that are eligible are Humble Bob, Steakbellie, Micah Collins, and Paul Sakelarides. And from hearing how Cataldi treated Bob and Steakbellie on the radio, they’re going to have a hard time getting in no matter what they do. Good luck to all who are eligible!

bk, I think the Eligibility clause is a blanket clause covering all entrants, regardless of how you qualify. My interpretation of the rules, anyway.

Send them an email or something. I doubt anyone here would know better than the buffoons themselves.
