Haiku contest for momo eating contest slots
Tremont 647 in Boston is holding a haiku contest. The writers of the seven best haikus will gain slots in a momo (dumpling) eating contest to be held on December 17. Haikus must include the words “Momo†and “Tremont 647â€. The person who can eat the most dumplings in 10 minutes will win a $1,000 gift certificate to the restaurant.

“Tremont 647” already takes up one whole line! And if you have to work “Momo” in too, you’re only left with 10 syllables. Finding a person who can do that and also eat a lot of dumplings really is a challenge.

this is the cruelest of jokes played upon me.
A. The IFOCE has failed to recognized the natural pairings of food and haikus. Despite repeated requests to the Sheas for such a contest they insist that my natural 5-7-5 bite-chew-swallow rhythm of eating is an unfair advantage to the rest of the eaters. I say “Throw me a Bone!” Until then, I am contractually unable to enter.
B. The $1,000 is in gift certificates for their restaurant and I am Geographically unable to collect.
3. I dont know what a Momo is…..
Arghhh

Still, Steakbellie, you should give us one for fun.
d’oh, you’re right: 7 syllables. Even more of a challenge.

I think Momo is a derogatory term for a Mormon.

Haiku Master Livingston – even though we can’t enter the eating contest we still must enter the Haiku contest, especially with these challenging guidelines. I will post mine on my website soon. If my Haiku is selected, I will decline the eating contest but this is a challenge that must not be ignored.

Gretchen Salyer apparently has the ability to write a successful succinct contest entry (assuming she is “Popeye” at the bottom of the page), so maybe she will get into the momo contest.

Isn’t Tremont 647 5 syllables? Tre-mont-six-four-seven?

spelled that way it’s 6
tre-mont-six-four-se-ven
spelled THIS way its 7
tre-mont-six-four-ty-se-ven
so you kinda get a choice for the middle line but it wont fit in the first or third line.
