Gal Sone & Yamamoto try to bankrupt buffets
R Suzuki has a summary of a program in which Natsuko “Gal” Sone and Takuya Yamamoto went to Japanese buffets. The total a la carte price of the food they ate was kept track of and the buffet cost was subtracted from that amount. Gal Sone saved 81520 Yen ($689) and Yamamoto saved ($788) The weight gain was also computed. Gal Sone gained 7 kg (15.4 lb) and Yamamoto gained 9.2 kg (20.2 lb) The calorielab blog also mentions the program

I just…didn’t realize you could gain 20 pounds in one sitting. Was this one sitting or over a series of days? (The link is being slow for me).

Liz I do believe this was a single sitting (at least a couple of hours I would imagine). Really, considering that water / liquid weighs 8 pounds per gallon, that, coupled with as much food as they eat, would result in gaining a lot of weight. They’d have reason to be concerned, however, if after several days the weight was still there.
I could be wrong, but that’s just my opinion.
