Grub Street reports that Lui Ming Kui, runner-up in the Beijing Nathan's qualifier, has not secured a visa allowing him to travel to the United States and compete in the Nathan's finals. The article also has a quote from George Shea about Takeru Kobayashi's July 4 event: "If you're not competing in person, that's like running on your treadmill while you watch the Boston Marathon, then saying that you won."

    Haha, exactly George. It’s a joke, he will embarrass himself by doing this and will only look bitter and disgruntled in the process. If he wants to compete against the best at the actual table, the power is his; he is a free as he wants to be. Takeru has been my friend, I don’t wish ill for him at all, I wish he would come to his senses and come back to competing with us not against us.

    I once played a game of touch football with my buddies when the Super Bowl was on and scored the winning touch down and I’m not bitter I wasn’t named the Super Bowl MVP, but my friends did dump a 32oz bottle of blue gatorade over my head!

    Wait a minute there is a common phrase to refer to what George just said but he’s making it seem as though kobayashi is doing this by his choice when we know the treadmill analogy was the only choice he was given

    Oh god wake up and smell the coffee Janus ate 50 this one ate 40 . Janus barely ate 16 in 2004 .     having the eaters from Beijing is a shame ,from a dictatorial communist regime to compete in Nathans , its almost reminiscent of of germane at the 39 Olympics
