    Technically, my personal best was 32 but i’m pretty sure extra plates were being given out like free Nathan’s frisbees in that contest ..although, that aint what i’ll be telling my grand-kids..wait..I don’t even have kids!

    Thanks to all for the comments! It looks like I may have been looking only at qualifier numbers, and not Finals totals (where it makes sense that the numbers would be higher). The table has been updated.

    Pat – I’m happy to give you credit for the 32! It looks like something similar could have happened in ’09, or maybe the dogs were smaller.

    Don Sturdy, you do know that eatfeats and MLE are completely separate entities. The official numbers are with MLE. Any photos taken may also be property of MLE and not to be shared on certain pages including Facebook parodies which are harassment at best, libelous as well. Be careful what you wish for.

It almost sounds as though he is saying that you are not allowed to take photos of an MLE contest with your camera and put them on your website without the express consent and authorization of MLE. The second half of his comment rings true. There is one disturbed human being that takes pleasure in creating his own facebook and twitter parodies stealing pics of competitive eaters that have shunned him and in return he uses those very pics as a backdrop for inflammatory comments which fall under harassing and libelous ,If someone is using your image under false pretense, twitter or FB will remove it only after you fax them a copy of your drivers license ID but thats not going to stop the sicko from creating another fake account with the same pic only spelling your name differently with an added numeric or two just to throw them off. We live in a very unfair world

    Did not know about the ins and outs of Facebook so thank you for more information. I think the first part of the comment referred to Don giving credit to Pat from Moonachie for his 32 or anything else he is posting as numbers. Of course anyone can do this but MLE keeps the records, what they have posted, whether disputed or not, is the real record. Don can record his own numbers, there is nothing to prevent that since he makes no claims. But information here on eatfeats and information at MLE are two different things. Of course anyone can take photos at contests and use them for “personal” use.

    Thanks for adding a page featuring the women’s division. As good as Sonya is, I think she is wise enough not to discount talents of any of the other women. Juliet has enormous talent and Stephanie Torres and Cardboard Shell could both do damage.

    Stephanie has been quiet, I wouldn’t be too shocked to see her eat 25+ HDBs.

    I like the fact that the cameras will focus on the top two or three women—-makes things more honest, and it will add more credibility to the final results/placings, where credibility is sometimes lacking.

    MLE is the governing body of the sport and is as accurate as BIG BEN because the results are calculated right after the contest at the table. This site is full of inaccuracies and has to rely on other sources from the net to get the results which are not 100 % reliable

    Whats been runnin under the grapevine is Badlands has recived 2-3 extra plates in the past.
    Not sure if its true, but if you look at some of his totals compared to his totals like a week later at the finals it makes you wonder

    Just for once i would love to see a competitive eater step up to the plate like Jim Reeves did in PB& banana and say “You know what i think i was credited an extra plate ” It will never happen cause certain eaters have they head up their you know what when it comes to Nathans. Nothing wrong with cheatin your way in if thats what it takes to get in Right?

    Think about this. If you do the noble thing and speak up (that you were given credit for extra food eaten), you’re, in essence, slapping the face of the people running the contest, because you’re insinuating, in public, that they don’t know what they’re doing.

    It’s up to MLE to get it right. Proper counting MUST be a cardinal rule in any and all contests.

    The fact that I’m even saying this after a dozen+ years of IFOCE existence underscores that proper counting is not one of MLE’s top priorities.

    Rhonda, come on! When you get an extra plate, you HAVE to stand up for what’s right and tell people what happened. It’s not a slap in the face to anyone to tell them politely that they were wrong and then voluntarily accept a 5-dog deduction. In life, when errors occur, you’re not supposed to sit there and shrug and do nothing to correct them. You do your best to graciously point out the mistake and correct it, and you hope that by doing you’ve not only fixed the immediate problem but also raised awareness of how to prevent future mistakes. If you get too much change back from a cashier, do you keep it because it would be too embarrassing for the cashier to be told that he counted the money wrong? Or if he gives you too little, do you stay quiet, again, because of the embarrassment that pointing out his mistake would inflict upon him? When someone gets your name wrong, do you never correct them? If a waiter mistakenly gives you the wrong check, do you pay it anyway? If a taxi driver takes you to the wrong place, do you just get out and walk to where you were going? Seriously, what wrong with you?!?

    Improper counting of plates has been done so many times that it is ridiculous. Rhonda makes the case best of all, they simply are never going to get this right. They are not going to get many things right ever. Every contest with a different MC, judges, eaters, place, all together that could cause challenges. MLE does not really care and cannot change what they call, just as they should not. If afterwards they themselves find out that they made a mistake, think they are going to change the results? Think they would let someone go to Nathans and keep the winner they crowned as well? Not going to happen, ever. They would make themselves look like imbeciles. There is too much garbage posted here and too much ill will directed at so many eaters, from table enders to the stars. So called cheating is a misnomer at best. The refs get the final say, period. They are MLE, Sheas and whoever runs their contests, end of stories. Whine all you want, gossip all you want if it makes you feel better or powerful which you are not, it does not matter one iota. Let’s look at competitive eating for what it really is. It is entertainment, pure and simple. Those who entertain best are the best winners.

    All of the circumstances you site are basically between two people/two entities and it stops there. Unlike these private matters, assuming you finish in or near the money, when you (politely) bring it to the attention of the judges that they miscounted, they have to either disagree with you (and save face) OR agree with you and tell everybody they screwed up.

    In the latter instance they lay an egg. This egg grows larger and larger. Everyone watching, to include fellow eaters and everyone in attendance, as well as everyone who reads about/hears about the miscue (in print, on the Internet, from gossip) starts to question the credibility of the people who run what is supposed to be the premier governing body of competitive eating.

    If you can’t see that, it’s because you refuse to.

    A 4:18: Okay, for sake of argument let’s agree that you are spot-on! What does that have to do with the reality of what goes on continuously with the plates, judging, rule-violations, etc, at MLE events, and has been going on since inception?

    A: 5:35 and A:6:20: Glad you both have me “figured out.” Good job.

    A: 8:57: I’m no more “intelligent” than any Jo-Bag-of-Donuts” on the street. I do, however, know who I am, and I’m goal-oriented.

    I’ve never been called a bully in all my years of existence—-never even been associated with the concept. I suspect it has something to do with the insecurity of many anonymous posters on this site, as it does condone, attract, reward, and even promote anonymity, even more than legitimacy.

This is THE place for someone enthusiastic about and with lots of opinions about competitive eating. Rhonda is not the only one to post a lot, many do from time to time. Right now Pat from Moonachie is all over the board, clearly delighted, as he should be, getting back to the table. We know very well who the real bullies are whether they post anonymously or not. Eatfeats is not going away any time soon. I certainly hope the same is true of Rhonda. It is amazing how much time some people spend trying to figure out who is who as if that would make any difference. Create something, do not attempt to destroy.     Rhonda, I didn’t care for your original statement about plates because (1) on an ethical level, it’s flat-out cheating to accept credit for extra plates when you know you didn’t actually eat anything off of them, and (2) it’s completely shitty and irresponsible to encourage others, as you did right here, to accept credit for such plates. Everyone on this site should be encouraging each other to man/woman up and be a good sport, and yet you’re sitting here as a prominent and (understatement of the year coming up) FREQUENT poster encouraging people to do exactly the opposite. We have a problem with cheating. To the chagrin of many of us who compete honestly, several of those cheaters will be competing at Nathan’s on the Fourth of July. We don’t need to compound our problem with irresponsible comments like yours.

    Anonymous just above, you are an idiot if you think that the very same eaters who you accuse of being cheaters and those who eat fair and clean are responsible for the problem. The problem is that in the aftermath of every contest, they are not in charge. Everything is never equal across the board in every contest, someone makes the call, it stands. You think the fans are going to wait hours for a decision. Are eaters supposed to count their own consumption, that is also idiotic! They are too busy. They should man up however if someone points to a hotdog on the ground or whatever and tell the truth. It is not only in the counting that there is unfairness in results. This is entertainment. Take your complaints to the judges as a group or as yourself to MLE, talk about it as a group among the eaters. Good Luck. Yes, in theory, it should all be fair. It simply is not and that has nothing to do with Rhonda. Misplaced anger. This is entertainment, even the posting here on eatfeats. Losing perspective over nitrates and everything else, join the crowd.

    Anyone else find it strange that the list of eaters in the finals has not been announcd? If all of the qualifiers are over, why hasnt the mens wild card winner been announced? Me thinks rare on this sight that there is another qualifier in the works. Last minute like to make sure certain peoples get in.

    anyways I am sure glad that Rhondank wont be correcting me and telling the world I cant spell anymore as that would just lay an evergrowing egg

    2. A-9:55: Uh … this might be an idea … you know, I think Rich and George, whom I actually respect, read this blog. Perhaps, as in b-ball, I can score an assist by prompting them to take action to thwart behavior contrary to legitimate eating practices and judging.

    If they don’t take action soon their collective hand will be forced when all eaters “prechew,” get credit for extra plates, drop food, throw it over their shoulders, etc. But, as SI already pointed out. This is entertainment. The ball’s in MLE’s court to solve the problem, if they perceive it as a problem. THIS IS NOTHING NEW! IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 10+ YEARS! WAKE THE F-UP!

    Seiken just has to always be right doesn’t he and almost everyone else is wrong and disrespectful. All of the things he accuses others of doing he does himself in spades. And he still expects to be honored and respected and comments on a site he despises. What is wrong with this picture? A lot. Hidden qualifier? Just more troublemaking. Mentioning a so called prince and princess, just more of the same. If you cannot make it to the table, do not spout off. How many times has Seiken made it to Coney? He even makes excuses about why he doesn’t attend as a fan, always whining about this or that. He wants to be carried in on a pallet like Kobayashi once was. MLE really doesn’t care about keeping things up to date online. Has no one noticed? They are always chasing new sponsors and trying to keep the ones they have as happy as possible. They do not care about posting the full line-up and announcing the wild card. In fact, every single eater who signs with MLE is replaceable. Not a single one is sacred.
