That is a great commercial. The best i have seen featuring Kobe or Sonya

(Butch) That is a riot. It seems very original too, in the way of commercials. I bet it will be shown during the Spike TV segment. Both Koby and Sonya seem to be very adept at this sort of thing.

By next year they will reshoot the commercial with Juliet Lee replacing Sonya

That was rad. It’s no SNL tv funhouse, but it was really entertaining and captures the mindset of a competitive eater.

(Butch) I agree with you Kevin. It (CE) also seems very appropos today in the age of reality TV.

(Butch) By next year they will reshoot the commercial with me kicking anonymous’ ass. But t will be a short shoot, because it will only take 30 seconds, and it will be done in a single take.

Good commercial. Shouldn’t there be a non asian eater for american tv/vid? The logical choices would be Chestnut, & two retired guys, Booker or Jarvis.
THIS IS NOTHING AGAINST SONYA. The commercial is good, but it could be better with the huge black guy (Booker) or the huge White Guy Jarvis, or the only person to be in Kobe’s league, Chestnut.

If the commercial was for Japan or Korea, its perfect.

(Butch) Chestnut is absolutely the greatest eater besides Koby … but boring as hell. Boredom doesn’t sell. Booker and Jarvis? Legends, yes, but the commercial won’t be shown on the History Channel! Who’d watch it?

Sonya and Kobe are the most recognizable eaters to the public. Everyone always ask about the little asain girl or the little asain guy. Booker and Jarvis had a lot of coverage, but aren’t too reconizable to the general public.

Fantastic commercial and congrats to both of them for getting such a lucrative deal.

By the way, Kobi is quite a gentleman, I saw something that probably no one else saw, it is HIS credit card being flashed for HIS hot dogs and then again for Sonya’s.

If you freeze frame it, you can see his name on the credit card.

Nice of him to feed the Black Widow. 🙂

This same thing happened to Larry The Legend and myself in a local Circle K store…unfortunetly, our credit cards were both declined, and we had split one hot dog. He beat me by 1/4 of a second, which I attributed to the time it took me to put mustard on my half….

(Butch) Since Kobayashi is listed in the rankings at http://www.competitiveeaters.com/rankings.htm, surely the AICE will publicize that commercial on their Web site too, since Kobayashi is one of their own. Yes, I am being facetious.

Totally Awesome Commercial. Congrats Big Time to Koby and Sonya!

(Butch) The back and forth hot dog eating in the video made me think that if there were no time limit, Sonya would likely hang with Koby, endurance wise. Lucky for the employee that he did run out of dogs or they would have eaten about 12 dozen or more as a duo (2+4+6+8+10+12+14+16 = 72 for Sonya). She would have done it, just not in 12 minutes. It would probably take 35-40 minutes fot her to do that.

If Juliet Lee was a well known name , it would have been interesting to see Sonya & Juliet in the commercial giving each other mean looks then eating hot dogs with Kobe smiling in the background

(Butch) That would have been another good angle for sure. Something like that could happen in time, once Juliet becomes better known. A real cat fight.

I admit I have a bias towards CE, and I confess that Kobayashi and Sonya Thomas are my two favorite eaters. But I have to say that that is one of the best short spot commercials I have ever seen. It is well done and very entertaining, and what a novel idea! It’s one of those rare commercials that, should it ever be shown on TV, would not be an excuse to visit the bathroom or the frig.

That would be a good idea anony, especially given the fact that Juliet is likely to improve and may perhaps become a significant intragender rival for Sonya.

Finally, if I comment quickly, I can say thank you to Rhonda for her previous compliment on my writing and to tell her that I learned a new word from her previous comment…….intragender…….very nice turn of phrase regarding Sonya and Juliet. Another one of Rhonda’s tasty comments, one which made me cackle, follows.

“I guess these posts still relate to dog food in that the folks posting are either barking mad or howling at the moon.”

So to Rhonda, while I do not always agree with what you write, I love reading your posts. And, as is often the case and necessary, when OJ calls timeout or recess when the posters get out of hand and out of sorts, please meet me on the playground. I will play with you anytime.

Crazy Legs Mom: it is nice for me to be complemented by anyone, but the pleasure is most pronounced when it comes from you and a couple of others. I couldn’t have more respect for you. I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts also. They always make good common sense and are fun. Life is good. Life is fun, and the good always outweighs the bad.

I eagerly watched the video until sonya “The Loser” thomas appeared. Then I shut the thing off. Why was Don Lerman or Brian Seiken not used instead? Or Cookie?

To that asshole who went by the name of anonyomous a few weeks ago , and accused BB of leaving a negative post about Sonya , where are you when Luther comes on this site and trashes Sonya? And he trashes her quite abit.

There are separate men and women’s divisions in all sports or games and there needs to be the same in eating. That is why I —-trash —– women who eat in comp. eating. They do not belong in the same division as men because they are simply not as good. No one will convince me otherwise. That is why I do not believe any results when the results state that Sonyya or any other female beats out men. It is a lie.
