Notice how after Menchetti loses in consecutive fashion he pulls out one of his secret black book contests similar to the Speedeat.com days with the assurance that his competition in that event is on par with the likes of Phil Lipper and Stu Birdy. The owner could have just handed Joe the check without competing

Who cares, a win is a win. If you did not sign a stupidass contract, you too could find whatever contest you want to do and win some ea$y money. Good win Gentleman J.

Nice weekend work take home of $1500 for GJM, and I bet the sushi was tasty as well. Congratulations! Your comments are always interesting. You tell it as you see it and live by what you say without vicious attacking, back handed compliments and with humor. You talk at the table as well, a fine combo.

2nd place had 43 & 3rd had 40. In the 1st round the guy who came in 3rd had 54. I believe less than 43 was the cut for the finals.
Atleast one of the finalists (not me) used the bathroom in a bulemic fashion between qualifier & finals. It was unclear as to the legality of this Because I did not do the same, I was actually concerned I might run out of gas, while others had plenty.
Also, I could not see a couple compEATitors on the far side, or I probably would have stopped or slowed to about 50. I don’t know if the other eaters were full, or if the addition of wasabi to every piece affected them. The wasabi seemed to help me. The sushi w/& w/out wasabi was good, but I liked it better w/wasabi.
This contest was not hidden or in my “blackbook”. It was posted on this site for a long while & I made clear to anyone who asked what contest I was likely to do. There were several contests of quality around the nation this day. Was I fortunate that Pete was busy w/promo for pizza, etc, Kobi didn’t stop by, or that the Jersey/Philly guys had a contest for $500. in their back yards… maybe. But, I also chose not to fly out to AZ twice to compEAT for a truck.
