The Derby Deli will hold a press conference open to the public on Friday in Mission Viejo, CA to promote the West Coast Hot Dog Eating Championship. Takeru Kobayashi, "Furious" Pete Czerwinski, Rich LeFevre, Dale Boone and Tom Gilbert are expected to appear.

    After the Pie contest and the many other events where Kobi’s eating prowess makes a mockery of these guys, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Kobi needs to find a new schtick. He might as well just eat by himself without these “so called” eating backdrops. Let’s face it, I think we’ve clearly established by now that these jokers are no Joey Chestnut or even in same level of MLE’s top five. Do we really need to see this again and again? It’s like sending Capt. Kirk down to the planet with Ensign Brown. Gee, I wonder who’s not going to make it back it back to the ship?

    did you see that Rich Lefevre? What a double crossing lowlife. Another well known eater gets screwed out of competing in Nathans qualifier in Vegas because Lefevre decided at the last minute he wanted to compete. Well after this show of total disrespect he should never be allowed to compete in a Nathans qualifier again

When will these fools realize that Koby needs a supporting cast in order to make this contest seem worthwhile. Like Dey said, let him compete by himself and see how unentertaining that will become over the course of the next few months. I think Koby should go to school become involved in the stock market and stop wasting his time with this nonsense

    Blah Blahs, you could almost say the same thing about the line-up for the Buffalo MLE contest. What a bunch of hooey comments. Kobayashi is doing just fine as an independent, far better than most eaters, and it has nothing to do with his supposed lack of competition. He will continue to thrive financially and otherwise. And lay off Rich LeFevre. He earned his stripes honestly, and if he wanted to test himself in the MLE game recently, he earned that too. His now choosing to do an independent contest from time to time is wise as well. The stock market? Biggest laugh of all. Apparently you live in middle earth never to see the light of day.

    Kobi’s going to ride these backdrop eaters for all it’s worth. I guess the backdrops are desperate enough for the little bit of backsplash attention of being around Kobi to be Kobi’s butt boys. Maybe even the backdrop eaters will catch on and start to realize that their just proving to everyone that they’re really not that special at eating and are ruining any rep they worked hard to establish like Pete has over the years. Sooner or later when any exposure that eateries get for paying for Kobi’s travel expenses, appearance fees, and prize monies don’t add up, these events will become fewer and farther between. The real competition or excitment regarding this event is how will the public affairs guy who’s putting on the press conference try to get any reporter interested or buy that this sham is a competition. “Come see Kobi kick a bunch of nobodies asses for the 10th time,” isn’t exactly front page, above the fold news in the LA Times.

    If Furious Pete was competing in the IFOCE his eating ability would be on par with Booker , Adrian Morgan & maybe Juliet Lee. Aaron could prob wipe the floor with him on any given day. Now if this was bodybuilding.com instead of eatfeats , it would be a different story. Pete is the greatest . Nobody can beat Pete. Pete can kick anyone ass. Pet is the legend the true champ. Good thing we have eatfeats to bring him down to reality.

    You are absolutely right NReda. George asked me to be in that qualifier even though I only came to watch (and had eaten plenty already that day). I told him I did not want to take away a spot from another eater but he assured me that I wouldn’t be doing so. I did it for fun, fully knowing that I had no chance to qualify under the circumstances, but making a few people in the crowd a little happier. All “what a sneak” proved is that he is an ignorant loser who should go back to the gutter he came from. Stallion hits the nail on the head and knows that I do these contests strictly for fun (and always have). I never claimed to be a great speed eater, especially in hot dogs or any extremely chewy food. Even so, exceeding 30 five times in a row without the benefit of any training wasn’t exactly terrible. As for the Derby Deli contest, I know Kobi is going to demolish the competition as he is the greatest all around eater in the world without question. Pete and Tom should have an interesting battle for second. I am just going to have a good time and don’t really care where I finish as long as I have given it my all. I could make plenty of excuses for my lower numbers now but that is not my style and if you want to consider me a washed up bum thaqt’s perfectly o.k. with me and will have no effect on whether or not I do future contests.

    Great to see Rich responding here and quickly. It shows that lots of eaters do read what is written even if they do not comment regularly. I can easily see why…….what a bunch of bull gets posted. I was going to add to my previous comment…….do you see Ron or El Toro complaining here? I did not know they were the people pointed to but do know that they both have no problem posting and expressing their opinions.

    Hate to point to the usual suspects but Seiken seems to keep on wanting to make trouble here under bunches of monikers as well as his own. He just wants eatfeats to disappear. Not trying to start the usual abuse room war of words here. Let’s stick to the topic if possible. Get your facts straight is what this website is about along with opinions and exchange of information. Seiken himself writes that he is about gossip and he writes whatever he wants on his site. He can take responsibility for his words there and here though usually here they are simply point blank destructive. Just sayin………that’s my opinion and I am entitled to it. Forget the usual hide behind the computer wuss lines, come out punching and all that etc. That is so old and stale that it reeks. Been there, done that with you.     @what a sneak, About 3 or 4 eaters finished ahead of both Ron and Rich in that qualifier. El Toro was in attendence but told me he was there to watch. Rich said the same thing. Maybe you meant something else, but nobody got screwed.

    Toro got an email from Mike at mle asking if he wanted to be in the contest. Toro said sure. The next day seiken posted a video of toro and Stephanii drinking everclear.That same day mike.told toro there was a mixup and they promised someone else the spot in the contest. Toro asked seiken to remove the video thinking that might be the reason why he was in then suddenly out. That was the furthest thing from sheas mind. George knew lefevre was coming down so he gave him the last minute spot which he turned down anyway. That’s the real story

    Why would Seiken post on his website Stephanie and Toro drinking everclear? Doesn’t this guy around have any sense of privacy? I mean what eaters do at that table is public. But I would think anyone with any sense would recognize that drinking and having non competitive eating fun should remain private. Who would want to go to an after party if you are worried it would be open to some out of context judgement by others on Seiken’s website the next day. Apparently Seiken didn’t check with Toro and Stephanie to see if it was okay. Just the fact that Toro had to tell to him to remove the video is creepy. Why was it even placed on his public website in the first place? What does that have to do with competitive eating? Yuk.

    Boone is in the Mid- 40’s Pete is hung over and will look shit face like he did in the Meatballs. Gilbert will be to shy to eat. Excell won’t be at the table he will be looking for another Beer Mug. Nade won’t be able to see. Rich will have a bowel Movement right on stage. Ross will think wow this is not wings. Aaron will still at work . And Mary will be blowing all the eaters before during and after the contest.

    And Koby will not break the Record.
