If the Shredder came in 3rd and Edible came in 4th , the turkey must have been real moist

Sonya — new world record, in fact I think that tops the 12 minute record.
Badlands — First second place finish in while, high fives for the big man.
Goldstein — Very good weight for 10 minutes.
Maria — Maybe her best finish to date, topping a few vet eaters (I wonder if she competed in the money)?
Conte — Not one of his best performances.
Davekos — Probably disappointed in his effort.
LA Beast — Nice showing for an amateur.

Nice job Maria! If you calculate that out, you just made $1500.00 an hour. Not bad for 10 minutes of work!

Sonya won resoundingly, nice placements for Badlands and Shredder and the next contestants were very close in weight. Nice to see Maria place in the money. l strongly suspect that all eaters participated with good will and fun and shared that with fans. MLE proved its worth with the sponsors, good idea to make the numbers limited for this kind of event rather than a one person exhibition of sorts. MLE keeps tweaking and re-inventing itself.

It’s good to see the real New York eaters get together to enjoy a delicious turkey contest and each other’s company.Even the Great Gavonne was in the mix doing what he does best; interviews.Except for Tim Janus not being around and Philbin out of the picture,I don’t believe we missed anybody. Great job Booker,Shredder,Maria and Conti. You represent the state of New York (and New jersey) well and should be proud.Of course, cudos to the Black Widow.

Am disappointed that I cannot view the video. Keep getting message that the video I’m trying to view is not available at this time. Gr8 job by all eaters and a nice MLE debut by LA Beast. New York State of Mind – a couple of us NYers in addition to X and Philbin (NJite) were not there. Lol If you’ve ever heard me speak, there’s no doubt where I’m born & bred 🙂

I’m embarrassed. I confess… It wasn’t Pretty Boy, it was me Handsome Guy. I look similar, but prefer the glasses and winter ensamble instead. My apologies to PB. It won’t happen again.

LMM – I mentioned Philbin. As for you, don’t you live in PA? You’re not considered a New Yorker. I covered the New Yorkers.

Sorry New York State of Mind but I was not doing interviews-I’m tired of that, the only person I got on camera was Sonya saying “The great gavonne rocks”.I tried to be nice & asked George Shea if he would answer a question on camera, instead of just ambushing him & sticking my FlipVideo recorder in his face, but he said,”Jo,I really don’t feel like it” & walked away.I guess his brother not only got the looks but also the class in the family. If you knew who I was(I have no idea who you are) why didn’t you say hello? It was a nice event but it makes you wonder why MLE would align themselves with cheap, crappy booze(I had one drink & it made me sick). They must be desperate for sponsors.Crazy Legs gave me the idea of filming the contest from outside, since it was the closest & best angle: http://www.youtube.com/muzixan He is really a brilliant guy.

I agree with you on Legs, Gavonne. He and Sonya are two of my favorite people in all of competitive eating. They are two of the most kindhearted, decent people you’ll ever encounter. One’s just a bit more bubbly than the other.
Don’t be too hard on George. He has cameras and people with questions in his face more than the average person can stand, I’m certain.
I’ll have to check out WT81. I don’t want to believe it’s as bad as you say, but I’ll make it a point to check it out.
Hope you and everyone else has a nice Thanksgiving. 🙂

Sonya was absolutely delightful, really sweet & sincere. And I was surprised to learn she’s 42 years old.As for Crazy Legs, there are few people I admire as much as him.As for George,I have no sympathy for him,he’s making money hand over fist.I just sent him an e-mail with some information that’s gonna rock his world-I can’t say it here or OJ wouldn’t post this.I would also like to apologize to you,Rhonda(or whoever you are). It’s none of my business who you are or what you do but there’s no excuse for being impolite(to say the least),which I have been in the past.
I guess it’s a matter of personal taste(I’m not a bourbon drinker),but no self-respecting drunk drinks Wild Turkey. It’s what you drink when there’s nothing else available, although I shouldn’t complain since they gave me a free t-shirt & bandana.Come to think of it,yes, everyone should go out & buy some WT81 for the holidays.I’ll be drinking Rumpleminz.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

New York State of Mind – ah, once a NYer, ALWAYS a NYer lol. Can take the gal outta NY but not NY outta the gal. Only reason I brought up Pat is b/c you mentioned how w/the exception of Janus and Philbin, the NYers were all there. Well Pat lives in Jersey and I live in PA but I am a born and bred NYer and will ALWAYS consider myself a NYer. I <3 NY 🙂

Oh please, every hick from NJ or PA who once ate a pizza or a canolli in Manhattan thinks they’re a NYer.Staten Islanders r barely NYers, people from upstate or L.I.r not even real NYers so u definately r not a NYer.That’s just an insult to real NYers who have 2 fight for a seat on the subway 5 days a week.I wonder how your PA neighbors feel about u saying you’re a NYer?Real NYers r onto u.

The true old school NY eaters that brought this organization into being are Booker, Hardy, Lerman, Seiken, Jarvis, Lipsitz. All of those names at one time or another lived in one of the five boroughs of NYC . NJ and PA does not count

Anony 10;27, thanks for posting that. Probably will never know why they shut down the comments but I like it because Rhonda’s comment stands alone. People who read that will (maybe) wonder what the story really is. At this point press-wise, it seems that Kobayashi is getting full credit for smashing Sonya’s record and that is all that people read, even the headlines say that. LMM, some people get very uppity about what being a New Yorker means, drawing borders as in New York City versus “outside”……….slipper borders though I can see that New York State and New York City should have a distinction. Whatever, as they say.

I don’t think he’s getting all that much credit Stallion. When you look up news articles regarding the turkey contest sonya has three times as many as Kobayashi, and it’s mostly lesser known agencies that are covering Koby’s “record.” It’s sort of sad because those two are almost like friends.

I agree. Booker, Hardy, Lerman, and Jarvis are the legends. Without those four, competitive eating would not be where it is now.

Stallion – hey there….its been awhile since I’ve see ya here! 100% true about the NY distinctions. Yeah, hv never considered a NY state resident a NYer lol. Flatbush – don’t know where ur coming up with these things but I assure you, I’ve traveled DECADES on the NYC subway 5 days a week going to work b/c I’M A FREAKN NYer ahahaha. – not from Long Island, not from Staten Island & not from NY state but thx for the clarification on what a NYer is 🙂
