Anyone that can break a record set by Kobayashi deserves to be featured on / featured at this and every other show or venue. What an absolutely INCREDIBLE performance by an unbelievably talented and dedicated expert at his craft!
Joey you are indeed the best, most devoted, persevering competitive eater that America has ever seen, and I hope you and Kobayashi both break the 60-dog barrier on July 4th, and may the best eater sport the belt around his waist when the contest is over.
There should be two belts, because you both are nothing short of GREAT!
I actually feel sad for the crop of eaters who can eat 20+ HDBs, because your (and Koby’s) totals are so overwhelmingly huge that they dwarf the records of those outstanding eaters like Crazy Legs, Erik the Red, Brian Subich, Pat Philbin, Tim Brown, Mongo Marquez, Allen Goldstein, and others–even the eaters who cross the 30 and 40 HDB barriers.
So there needs to be a new descriptive adjective above and beyond the ones like incredible and outstanding, because they fail to do justice to you and Koby. When I think of one I’ll let you know.

Any word on Joey throwing out the pitch? Did he bring the heat?
I’m so dumbfounded with his performance….way to go Joey!

Great job yesterday, Pat! I feel that you and Allen will both make it to the big show again after the dust has settled. All of you guys are really stepping it up and bringing the level of competitive eating to new heights. It is necessary to continue to improve just to keep pace and that wasn’t the case when I first started competing five years ago. As for Joey, all I can say is he is reaping the benefits of all his dedication and hard work. He is living proof that it is possible to match Kobayashi’s determination and work ethic and perhaps even exceed it. I would have never thought it possible until now.
