THIS IS VERY CLOSE BUT NOT TRUE . JOEY CAN NOT PASS KOBY AFTER ONE WIN AT NATHAN’S SINCE KOBY HAS BEAT HIM HOW MANY TIME’S .IF JOEY WINS THE KRYSTEL SQUARE OF WITH KOBY YES # 1 IS HIS. KOBY WINS HE REMAINS # 1. JULIET SHOULD BE IN #9 SPOT..
Cookie, this is a poll, it is an opinion of those that were asked, so, as long as there aren’t any mistakes in counting, this would be a true ranking of eaters by those that voted. They could put Kobay in last place and it still would be true. Because that is what they decided. Your ranking may be different, and would also be true.
Hall, can I ask how you DO come up with this ranking? What is everyone voting on, how do you use your point system (I noticed there are over 3000 ‘first place votes’ from 10 people) and curious, who voted for themselves?
Todd you’re a really good guy and I have lots of respect for you. But the learning curve for you on Koby is apparently not very steep. Had you paid attention to the US Open of Competitive Eating in 2005 you would know what I mean.
Regarding the Chili Cheese fries, for example, Sonya has the record of 8 lbs, 2 oz from a couple of years ago, and I LOVE Sonya. But I guarantee that had Koby been there he would have eaten no less than 15 lbs. He ate a similar food in the U.S. Open and it was like having an adult compete against an infant — a complete laugher.
This year, though Joey won, Joey (and everyone else) finished with low totals for whatever reason. Joey BARELY won with 5.44 lbs to 5.31 and 5.29 for Eater X and Sonya, respectively. Koby would have totally embarrassed him and everyone else and would have finished well into the double digits.
Takeru Kobayashi is the absolute supreme master and was put on this earth to eat competitively
As I said many, many times before, Koby’s worst foods are the sandwich foods — burgers, dogs. Do you remember his brat performance versus Joey? Well, he gets better from there with all other foods.
If Koby were based in the U.S. (and there are rumors that he may be soon enough), he would win each and every contest and Joey’s new aspiration would simply to be the U.S. champ, because attaining World Champ status would exist only in his imagination.
I know what I am talking about on this Todd. It may sound like all smoke and hot air right now, but you and many, many others may become enlightened sooner than you think.
I appreciate Hall taking the time to compile this. Hall is one of the most dedicated eaters, and people in general, out there.
Personally, I enjoy reading the results of the poll every month, much like I like to read The Enquirer or any other tabloid. It gives me a good robust belly laugh, and it has been proven that those who laugh live longer.
“Cookie” Jarvis happens to be right. The man has been on the scene long enough to know something about rankings, especially regarding Kobayashi. So listen grasshoppers. 🙂

‘ “Cookie” Jarvis happens to be right. The man has been on the scene long enough to know something about rankings, especially regarding Kobayashi. So listen grasshoppers. ‘ Again, it was a poll, what don’t you understand about this?
It is truly a scary thought, of what WILL happen in CE if Kobayahi moves state side…The thought of Joey and TK going head to head that often incomprehensible. The numbers these two will put up will go through the roof. If it’s true it will be a sad day for table enders everywhere.
Carey: 3,000 first place votes? That would be amusing. I suppose I could format the page a little clearer, but if you ask Steakbellie or Liz they will tell you I am horrible at arranging/designing web pages. What you might be talking about are the numbers in parenthesis. Only Takeru and Joey have two sets of parenthesis and then one set of brackets. The first set of parenthesis is the first place votes. On the latest poll Joey had 7 and Takeru 10. The next set of parenthesis is how many total “points” they received. Joey had 247 and Takeru 240. Every other eater only had one set of parenthesis which is meant to indicate the total points. Since no other eater had any first place votes I neglected to put a second set of parenthesis instead of putting them and then having a “0” for everyone else. There is a little key at the top of the page to attempt to explain this graphically. Anyhow, I hope that makes some sense to you now. Sorry for the long explanation.
I come up with the rankings by simply tallying the total amount of “points” each eater accumulated from the voters. Each voter sends me their list of their top 25 in order. The #1 rank gets a first place vote and 25 points. The #2 gets zero first place votes and 24 points. The #3 gets zero first place votes and 23 points, etc.
nathanbiller: I would be happy to help you out with one of your life goals. Any eater, eater enthusiast, etc. can vote. I have a mass email list that I use to send a notice (usually towards the end of each month) to the voters that I need their top 25. I have to use this mass email list to keep everything organized. If you want to be a voter, please send me an email to HallHunt@comcast.net. Write “Eater’s Poll” in the subject line. In the body write, “I would like to become a voter for the Eater’s Poll.” I get a ton of emails, so this will help me weed it out from the others. Thanks.
Carey, isn’t it obvious? A perfect score would be 250. Joey finished three points shy of a perfect score. Therefore, a first place vote is worth 25 points, a second place vote is worth 24 points, and so on.
One more thing about Koby, put a utensil in his hand (like a fork or spoon … or chop sticks), and you’ll see Koby’s picture in the next revision of Webster’s Dictionary, alongside the term, “hand speed.”
Thanks, Hall. That was a clear explanation. I called them first place votes because I read the heading wrong. that is what I thought it said at the top of that column.
Yeah, anonymous, I feel pretty stupid not realizing that.
so who out of the ten put Joey in the lead / who didn’t? My guess would be Tim, Don, and OJ voting for Kobay still.
HA!
I have never voted for myself in any of the polls. It just feels weird casting a vote for myself. What you see is the grace of my fellow voters, and I’m honored to be included in that fine grouping of 25.
I have considered casting a first place vote for myself as a joke, but thought better of it when I considered the amount of work Hall puts into this.
Steakbellie gets a weird feeling when he votes for himself. It is ok, everyone does it. It is part of human nature. Those that tell you that they don’t vote for themselves are lying, or just aren’t able to. In fact, I started voting for myself at a rather young age. 🙂
Luther, where ya been? You enjoying reading the new rankings? Wow, yeah, Hall, the poll was pretty acurate. Congrats to Joey on his domination. Yo, Philly, congrats on getting on the board. You too Paul. Todd, you’ll be up there soon enough.

Activity counts. If Koby had participated in the many events that Joey had won, Koby would have placed second. Chili Cheese Fries, Asparagus, etc…

Cookie,
Why should Juliet be ahead of Hall? He beat her in hot dogs (qualifier), Shoo Fly Pie, and then hot dogs (4th of July) again.
Advantage: Hall Hunt.
