New Poll: most impressive female debut

The new poll asks what you think is the most impressive debut by a female competitive eater. (I am defining debut as the first eating contest or challenge to receive some degree of media coverage)

That’s very difficult and is very, very subjective. On the surface, I am torn between selecting among Kate, Carlene, and Elizabeth. However, eating performance is often very relative, whereby people often eat up to or down to the level of others.

For example, using recent numbers in HDB eating, Sonya’s 2003 debut performance of 18 dogs seems trivial, but she not only won a qualifier for Coney Island (by a 3-dog margin), she defeated several top 25 eaters in the process. And at the time the U.S. record was only 29 HDBs, I believe.

I had to vote for other. It’s like asking who is the greatest female in history, Condoleeza Rice, Joan of Arc, Hillary Clinton or Wonder Woman. One is fictitious, one is mythic, one’s accomplishments are faked and one is the greatest woman in history, and we all have different answers for who fits into what category

Sonya did 18 dogs in her 1st performance.
Kate’s ONLY performance is likely fudged.
I don’t know Carlene’s 1st performance, but I’m sure it was impressive, for a mature woman.
Elizabeth’s 1st performance was as part of a 2 person team. Against the #2 japanese eater of all time & the #2 japanese woman. Elizabeth & her partner beat the japanese team convincingly & shockingly.
I’m not saying Elizabeth is the best female eater, but to not give her credit for the best 1st performance is ridiulous.

Elizabeth truly is indeed one of the best female eaters in the world right now. No one in their right mind could argue that.
