Sonya informed me of this before it went public. I would have kept this a secret but i guess its no secret any longer. I believe her when she says her job obligations superceed competitive eating. IFOCE considers it a diss when you fail to make them first priority. Ed Krachie is a prime example of work before fun and they didnt care for that one bit. I believe this pick and choose crap for spike and any other media events will cause future hostility and dissension amongst the members of the organization

So is the extra seat at the final table going to a remain vacant, go to a fifth wildcard, or go to second place in Chattanooga (best option)?

Per Krystal Krystal Square Off Bylaws (see Sect. B, Rule 2.1: “In the event that a qualifying regional champion is unable to take his/her place at the final table, said place will be offered to the competitor with the next highest total at the same regional qualifier until the position is filled.” ), Rick Petralia, with 24 Krystals consumed, will take Sonya’s place at the final table in Chattanooga on October 28th. This is unusual. She’s been competing in 20 to 30 contests a year for the past four years. Is this the first time her job has prevented her from competing? Maybe work is an issue here, but I think anonymous might have been closer to the truth. Sixth place just isn’t enough for Sonya to make the trip down to Chattanooga. Still, sixth place last year paid $750. It won’t be the same without her.

Sonya’s website is back up with no mention of not competing in the Krystal Square Off finals. The site says it was updated at 5:24 AM this morning.

she gives away spots like spike and krystal and there are others that cant even get in these shows
