For some reason or other Sonya does not do well at Hooters. Juliet is better than that too. Does each eater at Hooters watch their food being weighed? If so no one can complain. If not why not and that is a problem.

Locust, do not understand what you wrote. Could you explain?
Locust said
July 26, 2013 @ 2:12 pm
I meant that it would be extremely difficult to put up high numbers (unless you’re Joey) when you only have one bowl to eat from during the contest. I also knew the wings would be smaller, with less meat, than ones used in at least one other qualifier. This results in too much precious time spent trying to get what little meat is left on the bones.
Locust said
July 26, 2013 @ 2:39 pm
The placings would probably have been the same for the top 3 eaters no matter what. Joey has proven several times that he is the best wing eater in the world. However, Miki and Adrian can only get better with more experience. Only the great Kobiyashi can match the start Miki has gotten off to in the history of competitive eating and the sky’s the limit for her.

Why don’t they list the weights? It is my understanding that one person was responsible for all the weighing and posting the totals and that eaters were not involved in the process. By that I mean it appears that the eaters were not allowed to see their own food remnants be weighed. Even if the weighing and calculation of the placings were done legitimately and with honest intentions, it readily invites scepticism. Also, I am sure that no member of M.L.E. is above making mistakes. Who verified the numbers? It’s like the I.F.O.C.E. doesn’t give a damn either. The are the most unprofessionally run organization I can possibly conjecture about, and that is what all this secrecy leads to, conjecture, which smacks of people trying to hide something. This is total Bull Shit!
Contest after contest after contest these proclaimed professionals either blatantly make mistakes or set themselves up for people to question the totals and they still don’t take any actions to prevent this sort of thing. It’s as if they don’t give a damn, and really, they may not, except for making money themselves. I am not one of the top ranked eaters, but if I was I would feel like I was not responsible for my final placing, that it was beyong my control, much like wing bowl. Major League Eating needs to fold up its tent, get rid of those stupid looking barker hats and go home, but that won’t happen as long as they have suckers who play the fool, yet keep signing the contract.

That’s a good point about listing the weights, Smells From Dock Side (nice name by the way). Logically, if that is how the amounts are measured then surely they should be announced like that as well. This would also reduce the possibility of human error as it would sidestep the need to subsequently convert the weights into individual chicken wing units. Or am I talking out of my arse? If so, apologies.
Anonymous said
July 29, 2013 @ 5:20 pm
The general number that IFOCE has used over the years is half an ounce of meat on a chicken wing. They list the results by wings because it looks more impressive when they say “Joey ate 179 wings” or “Miki ate 155 wings” than “Joey ate 5.59 lbs of wing meat” or “Miki ate 4.85 lbs of wing meat”.
The trays probably were weighed before and after. Newcomers tend to think that their results will be judged by a count of wings, so they take one bite and toss the rest. When their non-cleaned wings are weighed, and the ounces are multiplied by two to get a wing count, they start whining because their counts are so low.

What the fuck to you want, Troll, a medal? 5:20, that may be so, but there is no proof to validate who ate what, only the “good word”, of the judge. As Dock Side said, if the results are valid, why the secrecy about the weights and calculations? Is this old communism? Dictatorship? WTF?

In response to 329 and 520 there were other MLE closed door scale jobs in the past. .Two in particular come to mind Fairfield CT ribs in 2006 & pork rinds in Nyc the following year. The other point about newbies taking a bite and tossing the rest of the wing in the bucket , might inflate your totals somewhat but you would have to accumulate a lot of half or less than half eaten wings to increase your totals by maybe half a pound . In the long run youre only fooling yourself by not cleaning the wings properly.

In a weigh based contest, which the Hooters circuit supposedly is, the percent of meat left on the bones should be irrelevant.

UR misinterpreting O.J.’s comment 1223 and O.J. is right. A weight based contest is based on total weight of wing meat eaten and not how much meat is left on each wing. Get a brain and lose the attitude asshole.

442 you are misinterpreting his comment you asshole! Since you are so pro OJ anything disputing his “saintly: remarks is considered insulting in your one track mind. The point i was trying to convey was very simple. In a weight based contest there are some that believe that by taking a few nibbles of each wing instead of cleaning them, will still give them a favorable advantage with the scale if they use that procedure with enough wings. It rarely works to their advantage
Anonymous said
July 30, 2013 @ 9:55 am
My point about taking a bite of a wing and tossing it was this: a noob will keep a count of how many wings in their head as to how many wings they bit. After weighing, and multiplying the ounces by two, they are surprised as to how few wings they are credited with. “But I know I ate 100 wings – why is my count only 42?” Because you only ate 21 ounces of wing meat.
anonymous said
July 30, 2013 @ 10:44 am
Exactly 955. Wanna get credited for 100 ? Then clean 100 and we have no problem. Nibble on 100 and you might get credited with 30 . Fair enough?
anonymous said
July 30, 2013 @ 10:47 am
If you look at videos of Buffalo and Hooters wings are totally different. Joey was able to pull the meat off the bone in one motion with Hooters.but not the case in Buffalo. He still got the job done in Buffalo but it took him a few more seconds to clean each wing

There are a few competitive eating websites. There is only one which instigates trouble and tries to tear down this one, its posts, and all eaters without exception. Going anonymous or under a different name changes nothing. By any other name it all spells beautiful.

It’s a shame that select eaters themselves are the last ones to know of their salaried statuses within MLE. Likewise, it must be embarrassing that the IFOCE, itself, isn’t aware that it’s paying salaries to several eaters.
As such, for the life of me, I cannot understand why all involved parties don’t simply consult the CE giants who post anonymously on this site, whose omniscience in the field of competitive eating is unrivaled.
I’m in such awe of these CE icons–these front-runners of deep thought–that I’m starting to tear up. I need a Kleenex.
anonymous said
August 1, 2013 @ 10:27 am
Ha Ha Ha Rhonda very funny but you know as well as we do that select eaters were told to keep it hush hush about their earned income. Now as far as getting into specifics , we have no proof that they are being paid under the table or on the books. Until we see an actual check made out to the eater on a weekly or bi- weekly basis, then it might be just hogwash to stir the pot

I’m sympathetic to 1002’s situation, and I insist that every contestant’s winnings that I represent be split among all nonwinners. I also think that this clause become part of all M.L.E. contracts, which needs to be enacted immediately, and be retroactive to 2001 or earlier.

First of all what do we get out of cheering on Shoudt Chestnut Sudo Stonie , Sonya and the others? Shit . I guess we should be thankful that they throw us a smile or a handshake while they hold the big check in their hands. Fuck that ok? Do the right thing and split a portion of the winnings instead of donating to a charity of invisible people. By spreading some (not all ) of the wealth to other unfortunate eaters, they can sleep well knowing they gave to a more than worth charitable cause
anonymous said
August 1, 2013 @ 7:46 pm
I don’t understand why the demand to share ones purse is considered outrageous? Didnt Tim Janus ask US Male to split his winnings with some of the eaters that competed in a crawfish contest 4 or 5yrs ago?

I think it is quite safe to say that for the forseeable future 90 percent of all non qualifying events will be won by Chestnut Stonie and Sudo. Those three should be willing to donate at least 10 percent of their winnings to their family of MLE eaters. This would really help build relationships with their CE brethren. Is this tiny token donation asking too much!

August 2, 2013 @ 7:35 am
Selfishness and greed that’t what it boils down to. I can think of one high profile eater that never donated a dime to a charitable organization

From a personal standpoint Adrian Morgan Aaron A train, Erik the Red , Michelle Lesco Tim Janus and even Beautiful Brian Seiken would be my first 6 choices that would part with a portion of their earnings if asked to do so. They seem to put the term “greed” aside when it comes to giving back
