Vegas buffets add time limits and surcharges
An attendee of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas noticed changes in the casino restaurants offering all you can eat deals:
This year at CES I noticed one little thing that seemed to be a universal change among most of the casinos. The buffet lines around the city have posted signs informing customers that there is now a time limit on dining. (The most extreme case we saw was a 1 hour limit on a Sushi Buffet in the Rio.) They’ve also taken to charging extra for patrons who wish to indulge in the more expensive parts of the repast.

I’d like to see them try to enforce that.

Little do they know what kind of damage the Locust, Carlene, and the Undertaker can do in two hours of eating! Just ask the new CiCi’s pizza manager here in Vegas after all of us met there along with Triple H! Needless to say they all did some serious damage!! BTW If any of you make your way out to Vegas try an make it to a buffet with the Locust! It’s something every one should do at least once in their lifetime.. You will be amazed by what you will see, better yet humbled!

I think they’ll ultimately lose business and revenue over that, because most people who eat at buffets don’t eat large quantities of food. The people who do throw down massive amounts are a small minority of the patrons. Most people enjoy the large selection of foods offered and the convenience of getting what they want when they want it, without having to rely on a waiter or waitress.
The people making these rules are either not looking at the big picture, don’t understand the economics of profit maximaization, are just jerks, or parts of all three. For many people it’s the buffets they use as a discriminator to choose among casinos. Continue to monitor quantities eaten and total revenues (and profits) will start taking a noticeable hit!
How ridiculous!

This might be a deal only during the CES convention and if it goes over then the Comdex convention. When there are 2 and 3 hundred thousand people coming to one convention, space fills up fast. including space in the buffets. I think the signs are just a way to keep the gamblers happy and to free up the dining tables insteaqd of having too many conventioneer hanging out in these buffets for hours on end.
Vegas has done similar things before that only lasted for a few days of these major conventions so this is not that new.

Hangman you are one irritating individual. The comdex convention is limited to corporate clientle . If the legistlation passes a referendom stating that buffets should imply a curfew then anything else is against the law and the owners are running a corrupt business. By the way buffets stink.Female patrons get their long hair in the food.and talk over the food Its disgusting if you ask me
