Joe Menchetti wins $5000 in Canadian wing contest

AICE news reports that Joe Menchetti won $5000 at a wing eating contest in at the Wing Shack in Whitby Ontario sponsored by the Rock FM

The contest entry form, which had the country field fixed at “Canada”, implied that only Canadian citizens could compete in that event.

Joe mentions his victory in the wing contest in this news video about the paczki contest.

    Congrats Joe! $5,000 is way more than 90% of the IFOCE eaters will make this entire year. IFOCE is for the egomaniacs or the independently rich who crave nothing but attention. If you want to compete and be compensated for it, leave the Fed NOW! Wake up or be used up. This message board is littered with the broken souls and egos that the Sheas have discarded long ago. The IFOCE is good for the top five (but what do the rankings mean now anyhow). I know Rich and Dave and George read this. Let me tell you right now, their days are numbered as far as being the authorities on competitive eating. For my money, Joe Menchetti is the most successful eater because he is the smartest eater. One day the rest will figure it out and competitive eating will go back to the fun and freewheeling days before George muscled his way in via Nathan’s and tried to become the de facto authority on CE. The charade of the IFOCE is almost over. It is up to the eaters to say goodbye to the attention and hello to real competition. Until then, the IFOCE will slowly bleed out and the Sheas will continue to turn their attention to their core business which is PR and not BS. I’m sure the eaters are good people, but they need to realize they are being exploited at the benefit of the Sheas. The Sheas started this for fun, but now it has turned into a business for profit. The eaters are assets. As such, they depreciate and are eventually written off entirely. Joey is the new product but will eventually fade away like a Cabbage Patch doll. If you are young and want more than your fifteen minutes, leave now. Even Koby is yesterday’s news. The IFOCE only has power beacause you people give it power. Take it back now before they arbitrarily take your power away from you. Just look at all the old guys who keep posting and whining about the lack of contests, TV time, money or respect. Pat B, you are a SUPERSTAR. Take advantage of that and flex your muscle. Joey, Pat, Sonya, Humble – leave now or be at the mercy of the New York City boys. Gentleman Joe has figured it out and now it is time for you to do so as well. ESPN is bored with the IFOCE and Spike has done their best to ruin it. Who reading this wouldn’t have loved the $5,000 Joe won? It’s not all about the money, but it sure pays the rent (and the travel, training, and time lost from work). Trust me, for the Shea’s it is all about the money and certainly not about the eaters. Again, WAKE UP OR BE USED UP!
