Ranked eaters who have apparently not competed since July 2005
The official IFOCE rankings have not been updated since September. I am going to do a series of posts providing information about the rankings which will help anyone who wants to create a more up to date listing.
I have not been able to find any information that the following eaters have competed since the US Open last July or earlier. This does not imply that the following eaters should be dropped from the rankings.

Collard greene feingold brooks oleg curley should be dropped from the rankings. Better and newer eaters should be occupying those spots

Ratings are so subjective. I know for myself, I have in one contest or another had a victory over all American eaters I have faced in the past year and one half. (Just by beating them once I am in no way saying that I am better then they are overall – I beat Joey in his first contest..). However I have not beaten Leon (he was 3rd in fries – over Eric, Charles, Crazy, BB, Shredder, Don…) and Oleg (two loses to him, an old hotdog loss and Potato Balls in June).
Does that make Leon better than me who is better than Joey? I do not know where those two should be ranked. I do think that they should be ranked though. Oleg qualified for Coney last year. I agree that they were not active after the US Open though. This does make it hard to judge where they fall in relation to others.

Is there any pattern to when the IFOCE releases rankings? It’s a tough job I am sure but the rankings are kind of stale there.

Rankings should be based on many factors including head to head record against other eaters, strength of competition in events entered, prize money won, versatility (doing well in various length contests and different types of food), etc. There is no one factor that determines an accurate ranking alone and they will always be subjective. The only things that are crystal clear are that Kobayashi is the #1 eater of all time and that Sonya is the most versatile American eater ever due to her greatness in both speed and capacity events. Bob and Pat should not have to wait this long to be moved up in the IFOCE rankings and anyone who has been inactive for a long time (including Carlene) should be moved down until they earn points in future events. I believe most eaters are analytical and know pretty much how the rankings should be even though they are not updated on a regular basis by the IFOCE.

I like Rich’s first post very much. There are so many factors involved. I propose an Eating Ability Calculation Matrix that would involve percentages, graphs, time frames, weights, and other various units of measure (both Metric and Standard) on a grid-like excel document. Done right, this could give each eater a three-digit numeric value that would indicate their ranking relative to other eaters’ three-digit numeric values.
Someone should propose this to the IFOCE ASAP. And they better do it as soon as possible.

Personally, I love subjective rankings, or I wouldn’t stand a chance!! This year, I will earn my ranking…I have , believe it or not, been practicing!!
As for Boone…He not only can’t spell, or make a complete sentence, he also has been permanently BANNED from our local sportstalk station because of his constant idiotic comments, and on-air screaming!!
No sport needs a Boone in it, he is an embarassment to the IFOCE, and certainly, as Bubba, Larry, Ken Tittle, and I will attest, he’s an embarassment to Georgia. If he stays in India, he is safe, because that’s where they keep all the sacred COWS!!

I’ve known Boone since he came into the organization. The IFOCE will hype you as a clown as long as you have something on your resume to back it up.Kevin & i had pickle titles which paved the way for a bogus rivalry that never really existed with the exception of a past Kevin outburst which was actually my fault to begin with. Boone was able to knock off some big names in the IFOCE in a speed contest . Sonya Jarvis Booker.He has made it to Nathans a few times but his competition in those Atlanta qualifiers was nothing major . If he had not beaten those names mentioned i think his antics would have been virtually ignored . I have never seen him beat anyone of any real signifigance in an 8-12 minute event. I find it incredible as to how much attention he gets as soon as he pops out of the woodwork.

Carlene and I will be visiting Atlanta again this year as we have the past several years. It is one of our very favorite cities inhabited by great people. Southern hospitality is alive and well there and we love the Varsity (onion rings and fries). The next time we are in town we would love to get together with you guys and have a good eat-up there.
