Mike Golic to do on-air eating contest
Competitive eating will apparently appear on ESPN / ESPN2 before July 4. According to Mike-Greenberg.com, Mike Greenberg won his NCAA bracket challenge with Mike Golic. Golic’s penalty for losing will be competing in an eating contest against pro eaters during his radio show which is simulcast on ESPN2. It will be interesting to see who Golic faces in his contest.

If I were running MLE I would choose Conti also. What some people don’t understand is that people who watch it will generalize the behaviour of who they see / what they observe to all of competitive eating. No eater can sell competitive eating like Crazy Legs Conti, and he’s not simply marketing himself, or, for that matter, not just MLE, but all competitive eaters.
It’s not just about being number one on paper. Crazy Legs is number one in many “intangible” areas. Hell, when I see Crazy Legs it makes me proud to be the fan I am.

I think both CLC and X have the stomach ability to embarrass Golic, and the Media savy to make good entertaining radio.

What makes you think he’s gonna face an IFOCE guy?
ESPN = Connecticut.
Connecticut = One Damn Good Eater
Gentleman Joe Menchetti
And he’s just as good in the “intangible” areas.
Not to mention, it’s a sports show not a movie opening or art house.

I don’t think too many people know who Joe Menchetti is. He might as well be in Katmandu.

O Yeah. Connecticut. Yeah, ESPN = Connecticut, the home of the state’s best eater and everything else surrounding comp. eating. If you must dream, dream IFOCE. Our contract’s waiting. Sign! Sign vermin!

As far as I know, its not me.
My guess is Conti will help MC, not eat. Golic might beat him. He already has a strong relationship with the show.
Mc-ing is what he’s great at. Eating is NOT.
I would guess that his roomie (Janus) would eat as well as other metro area eaters. Also, Janus is from Ct.
Since I am 20 miles away, likely wouldn’t have anything better to do, have known one of the guest hosts since elementary school, I would probably do it if asked.
Its not likely though.
Isn’t The Scum in Katmandu?!
Inside information, I appreciate the favorable comments.

Any ranked eater can beat Golic. Probably any unranked eater. Being fat and having a big mouth only makes you a big mouthed fattie. Look at any contest – the unprepared new big fat guys are the first to fall, the first to get filled up, and the easiest to beat.
I love it when I get stuck between new fat guys in a contest – it’s a big ego boost. If you gave them 117 hours, they might be able to out-eat you, but probably not. The person that can win a contest is that new skinny, small guy or gal that no one has heard of. Check out Chip, Seaver, Joey, Sonya, Hall, Pat, Juliet, Tim Brown, and the list goes on and on, of normal sized, now legendary eaters that emerge from nowhere. The list of new, good fat eaters is semi-non-existent.
Fat people are fat because they constantly eat, not because they eat fast. Golic will be another big, easy target, and another ego boost for whoever goes against the loud-mouthed loser. Back to the Nutra-system, big boy!

Uhhhh…..
Do you listen to the show at all ?
I’m not so sure I ever heard Golic say that he expected to win this thing even once.
More like surviving it.
You’re pretty judgemental and hatin’ IMO !
