Mike & Mike “Feast on the First” press release

The press release for tomorrow’s wing eating contest between Mike Golic of ESPN radio and Tim Janus, Crazy Legs Conti and Pete Davekos follows after the jump:

Golic vs. Pro Eaters – Pays Up “Bracket Wager” Loss on May 1

“The Feast on the First” Features “Big Mike” and Ranked Eaters April 28, 2008
Listeners who voted for ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike in the Morning co-host Mike Golic to face-off against professional competitive eaters if he lost the annual NCAA men’s basketball tournament “Bracket Wager” to Mike Greenberg, will get their wish Thursday, May 1. That’s when pro competitive eaters Crazy Legs Conti, Eater X and “Pretty Boy” Pete Davekos will be in the Mike & Mike studio at 8:05 a.m. ET and challenge Golic to a wing-eating competition with wings provided by the Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar restaurant chain.

“The Feast on the First” will feature Eater X (ranked No. 4 by Major League Eating), Conti (No. 11), Davekos (No. 25) and Golic consuming as many Buffalo Wild Wings’ Blazin’ Boneless Wings (their hottest wings) as they can in three minutes.

“I don’t care who the competition is, I’m chewing for victory,” says Golic, who weighs 270 pounds after losing 51 pounds on Nutri-System. “Don’t underestimate me — I will not be opposed to physical contact with my opponents if it’s close at the end.”

Conti, off April 12’s third place finish in the Acme World Oyster Eating championship in New Orleans, was the subject of a 2005 documentary Crazy Legs Conti: Zen And The Art Of Competitive Eating. Eater X ( New York City ’s Tim Janus) competes wearing a painted mask, and was a test subject in a National Geographic documentary The Science of Speed Eating in which an upper gastrointestinal series showed his stomach expands four times larger than a normal stomach. Davekos was introduced to competitive eating when he was challenged to a “fisherman platter” eating competition by the boy friend/bartender of a girl he was trying to meet.

Greenberg’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament “Bracket Wager” victory marked the second time in five years he has beaten his co-host’s “Sheet of Integrity.” The series:
Year Winner Loser & Pay-Up
2004 Greenberg Golic has eye brows waxed
2005 Golic Greeny dresses like a leprechaun
2006 Golic Greeny dresses like a leprechaun at Notre Dame
2007 Golic Greeny milks Sox the cow
2008 Greeny Golic competitively eats

Why not Pat and Joey? It would be an insult to their ability. They don’t even need Eater X or Crazy Legs or Pete. Even Miernicki could beat Golic. No, wait. maybe not.

I watched the show too, and I really enjoyed it. The IFOCE could not have picked three better, more well-spoken people for representation. I like the way Pete slipped in a plug for MLE-The Game. I was impressed with Mike Golic. He did better than I expected.

I noticed that Mike is really impressed reading about and getting e-mails about Sonya Thomas’ eating prowess, as he should be. He knows talent when he sees it.

I was a standby for the show just in case one of the guys couldnt make it. I expect to hear some comments from the peanut gallery if by some chance i got on. Just to set the record straight Golic would not have beaten me and thats a fact!
