The field has been announced for the Gringo Bandito Hot Sauce & Chronic Tacos Challenge in Las Vegas July 29. Takeru Kobayashi and Molly Schuyler will compete at the same table for the first time. Pat Bertoletti, Dave Brunelli, Kevin Ross and Naader Reda are also expected. There will also be an open amateur contest.

    There is not a chance that Kobi will lose at any of his contests. He’s getting paid for being there which is way more than the prize money plus he will be taking the first place prize money.

    Should be a very interesting contest! Pat has to be a real threat as well with his greatness eating super spicy foods. Dave is very tough as well.

    I think it will come down to iron wills. Kobayashi’s is unquestioned (He lives for these moments). Molly might be able to match his capacity but will she be able to match his mental stamina? I expect Kobayashi to win by a 5% margin over Molly and slightly more over Pat (6-8%).

    This is a very fun contest, sponsored by Dexter from The Offspring and Wee Man from Jackass (who is an owner of Chronic Tacos). I’ve done this for the past three years and won prize money several times (albeit not a lot of it), so was looking forward to doing it again. But a weekday in Vegas didn’t work out for my schedule, so I had to bow out of it. So unfortunately Seiken, you won’t have the fun of ironically telling me how terrible I did.
