Sal, these whanabe eaters wont give you your credit, they are groupies who are blind..Let them try and due what you did…As for phoney pete he only does these numbers by himself, never in competition..Hes one that creates his own publicity,he needs it you dont..Your the real deal..Great job

I’d like to see Sal Vs. Pete. Sal is not a bodybuilder but he’s told me he works out a lot so they probably have some things in common. He expressed some interest in branching out, it’ll be interesting to see what he can do or if pizza is just his thing.
As for me, I’m out of these length contests, I just don’t have long distance. As good as the pizzas are, the taste of sameness over and over was getting to me and I couldn’t pick it up. I’ll stick to the shorter contests from now on.

Great Job To Sal, Joe, Dale and Will. I was clearly overmatched today. However, the beauty of
competitive eating is there is always a new contest around the corner and it is a brand new day.

Ya know, it was hard to see, but based on the video, and with all respect to Sal, he should have been DQ’d for spitting his food out.
I could be wrong but I think the rule sheet said 15 sec chipmunk rule. Even with that, on stage he said 5 sec. rule and it seemed that the second they called the contest, he spit his food out. Can’t blame Rocco’s or the judges because they didn’t see it happen but I think officially he would have been called DQ in a sanctioned event. If we get a better video out there, might see it better because some dudes head blocked the shot.

Will, i did my best . If i got there earlier i would have got a better spot . I wish i was taller so i could get a better view but god blessed me with only 5’10 and he wouldnt budge after that. I might have dropped an inch with age. I was lucky to be able to get the spot i was at because i got there at the last minute. Because of my position i could not get a clear view of the table. Thats all i need to do is tell some people in the crowd ” move your f– n head your’e in the way” . This is Brooklyn not Bismark ND . WW3 would erupt before our very eyes if i made that comment. I couldnt see if anyone heaved , i saw Carbone yelling at Boone. Not sure if it was just emotion his part or a verbal attack directed at Boone . Bottom line is he(Carbone) can eat , No doubt about that. This is just my opinion but as good a pizza eater as Carbone is, the contest isnt much without Boone & Menchetti and even yourself for that matter. Not sure if Menchetti & Boone brought in the crowd but it certainly hyped the event opposed to Carbone going solo. By the way Rocco’s pizza tastes just like pizza did back in the day. Puts 3 brothers in Maryland to shame!

Dale, will you still be ranked #1 in your organization after this very tough weekend?

I saw what Sal did. After the buzzer he pulled out a wad of food. He did NOT throw up.
Could he have been disqualified… yes. Should he have been disqualified… NO.
I did not dispute the decision.
Joe said he was penalizing him a slice.
So, his actual total should be 21.5 slices. Which only matters as a number to beat in the future.
It was a great event, & I hope to take Sal’s crown next year.
Between seeing Boone, Beautiful Brian, Kevin & Lorranine Lipsitz, & Don Lerman this weekend, I think I may have been transported via the LOST time machine, back to 2002.

I was at the event yesterday and i was standing upfront by the stage. When the contest was over Sal did spit out the food in his mouth because he was under the impression that if its not swallowed by the end of the buzzer then it doesnt count. So if it didnt count then why eat it. Its not like they join the contest for the enjoyment of eating the pizza. The champs were put to shame, it was great to see Sal put Brooklyn on the map. Cant wait to see him branch into other competitive eating challenges. This kid sure can eat. Got to thank his Italian mothers for that. GO SALLY DA GUY!!!

Sal did such a great job, and so did everyone else. But it is proven that Sal still holds down his title as the champ in Rocco’s pizza eating contest, I’m really proud of him, he’s a hottie!! lol <3

I photographed the event and was shooting Sal as they sounded the buzzer. he still had food in his mouth. The rule states you have 15 seconds to finish what is in your mouth if you choose. which means if you choose not to then you can take it out and it will count against you. look at my picasa link on top of this story, there is a shot of Sal (image #48/70) where Sal has a mouth full of food after after the buzzer, you can see everyone else stood up and chewed for the 15 seconds. Sal then pushed the food in his mouth into his hand, he didnt spit up or regurgitate. he then placed that food back on his table and it counted as half a slice which is why they said he ate 22 slices not 22.5 which is the amount that was unchewed.

I told everyone before the contest don’t even bother starting the competition you know who’s going to win and sure enough SAL DA GUY comes out with the victory.

Jerritt, & anyone else. I came in 2nd & i’m not complaining.
If i’m not complaining, since it was winner take all, no one else should have issues w/it either.
Congratulations to Sal.
Hopefully, i’ll be available next year to help put on another great show.

I’m not against the kid either. Just making a matter of fact statement. If it fell under the rules, I retract my previous thoughts.

First things first, i want to thank all you guys for coming out. if it wasn’t for you guys being there, i wouldn’t have been able to push as hard as i did. Joe your name definitely suits you, thanks for being a good competitor. As far as all the bullsh*t at the end, im not in your organizations i dont know your rules. i didnt know it would count for me or against me, if i did I would have easily put it down and ended at 23, but i didn’t think it counted so i took it out of my mouth. For the future now i know. Thanks again for coming down and competing ill see you all real soon. Thanks to everyone who supported me, Beautiful Brian your the man, great article!

Sal i truly appreciate the kind words. You did one hell of a job. . Did you read what he just said eating fans? Thats how we roll in Brooklyn tellin it like it is . So for those of you little anonymous turds that get offended when i use occasional profanity, its in our blood so get used to it or dont bother reading what i have to say if it offends you . We also give props when props is due . I was born and raised in this borough and i am proud to have lived here all these years. Most importantly we stick together keep the community tight and help each other out if push comes to shove.Im going back as far as the mid 70’s when i speak of this type of camaraderie. I hope he continues eating competitively whether it be IFOCE or independently .

Congrats Sal! You earned that victory. Good on you too Joe, for your professional, refreshing attitude. (Now I’ll pull for you even more.)
I agree with you on BB’s article. That’s reflective of much of his relentless devotion to and coverage of CE. Brian Seiken has no peer in what he does.
