I’m voting for Chip Simpson as number 1. I think he would be too much for the rest to handle. Furious Pete is only undefeated because he hasn’t really faced anybody of high caliber. It’s not his fault, but most of the IFOCE top 10 would smoke him. If ever given the chance he should make it a point to avoid Thomas, so he can always say he never lost to a woman, because if he faced her he would go down in one shot.

It would be difficult to do just one ranking. Some eaters are sprinters, some are milers, some are marathoners, very few are super strong across the board. (including me)

Chip was a top 10 force with the IFOCE, but he’s not really active any more. He’s competed in one non-IFOCE contest in the last 20 months (a wing contest in Dec 2008). This list should only include eaters who’ve eaten in 2009.

Chip’s retirement makes me wonder…he was the first of the great “new generation” eaters to retire. The guys who trained hard and stretched their stomachs to the limit to prepare for contests. I wonder, since his retirement, if his stomach has returned to “normal.” Does the body bounce back from a rigorous CE career? Are there any lasting effects?

Too many #1 eaters in the world. Right now I think theres 4 #1 eaters in the world. The only way to find out who is better than who is to have them compete against each other, and that will never happen. He ate 15 slices, well he ate 45. oh did I mention one pizza was so thin it had holes in it, and the other one was so thick you need a chain saw to cut it. Maybe one day there won’t be such a choke hold on CE. Till then I’m gonna be one of the three 35th best eaters in the world.

I vote for A-Bomb Lane. If given the chance to stay in ifoce I say he would be in the top ten. Instead they kicked him out before he made some of the other top ten look as bad as they are.

YA well Arnie kicked out his two best Eaters and the third retired on his own so that thins things pretty good at the top for him to fake a comeback. I’m still mad that AICE is against Independent eaters now. It’s like Bizarro World! Why would all these great Independent eaters agree to be shackled to some lunatic with a smelly old dog hat? At that point they should have just joined the IFOCE. I have respect for the guys who refused to sign the AICE contract. Thats cool.

I wouldn’t say I suck. I’m great at CE for about 2 min. After that I’m not any good. I guess I kinda do suck. Not “really” suck though. I have never come in last. I think.
Just like to compete and have fun.

You’ve had some pretty good accomplishments. You’ve conquered a 72 oz steak. I haven’t done that yet.
I’ve recently had some good accomplishments. I’ve conquered a 5 pound stromboli in 23 minutes, ate a 5 pound sandwich in under 15 minutes, and won a hot dog competition on the 4th of July (against over 40 other competitors… on a first ever attempt). I don’t mind going out on competition and taking my share of “humble pie”, but every time I find something close enough to make it to, it turns out to be on a drill weekend or during the middle of the week, when I can’t get off work. But hopefully, I can get out there soon.

i see all this ifoce this, ifoce that……great eaters in your org, at least up top…..it’s a damn shame that so many ifoce members are such freakin’ wanna bes and smack talkers. If you haven’t accomplished something worth while (in the last 5 years) or beaten whoever you are talking smack about then shut your bologna hole. Some third graders never grow up. As usual the poll results really won’t make a diff. because everyone automatically thinks ifoce eaters are better……not true at all. Until members of each org sit and eat in the same contest the dispute will never be settled. That won’t happen because the ifoce doesn’t want to show the chinks in their armor and lose credibility with some of their long time event sponsors. It will be just another useless poll.
btw – fp, goose, kuhns, maurizio, lyle, hickman…..etc are all better than chip and chip is a great eater. Gonna have to look him up next time I am in his neck of the woods.

In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter who is better at this or that? It’s a shame that we (me included) let ourselves be drawn into that comparison / one-upsmanship-racket. One’s performance at anything is what it is.
Should we continue snatching negativity from the jaws of great accomplishments?

I don’t here the shea’s, chapman or okarma bashing each other its the eaters that are saying the same old shit. the ifoce is what it is they have a contract. aice has a contract who cares. eaters are eaters.depending what kind of rules the contest consists of some of the aice eaters might surprise you likewise with the ifoce. its still the same ifoce dunks and aice goes picnic. i think alot of you need to grow up and get a life

Paul may not have the best skills in the world, but he’s never said he did either. Like myself and many others, we’re in it more for the community and fun aspect. It is possible to take something seriously and still have fun. All the rest of the politics don’t matter if you move to the beat of your own drum and people like Paul and myself do just that.

Do I count? I have eaten in IFOCE Buffalo wings and Nathan’s Canadian Hot Dog Championship qualifiers. I have never been asked to sign a contract. I have won many eating contests locally not on eatfeats database.
