The Wing Bowl myspace page has a blog entry listing and critiquing some of the first eaters attempting to qualify for Wing Bowl 16. A “Wing Tut” is listed as the winner of the first Wing Off qualifier. A picture of the eater billing himself as “Wing Tut” appears on the Wing Bowl 16 page on 610wip.com, and it does not appear to be the Pittsburgh area Wing Tut who sometimes comments on this site.

I dont think it’s D.A. Payne. I think it’s the guy who puked 2 years ago. Didnt he compete under the name ‘Savage’ or something recently? I forget.

Yep, that looks like Elliot “The Savage” Cowley-Maruffi.
Long story short, 2 yrs ago, we both debuted in our respective Wing Contest. Him Philly, Me Pittsburgh.
He and I, being newcomers at the time qualified w/o a specific eating name. I used Wing Tut @ the Pittsburgh WCS ’05 one week before he used Wing Tut at the Philly Wing Bowl ’05.
We then competed against each other in Strawberries that summer of ’05. We discussed the “Tut” and for me it stuck, as he became “The Savage.”
Elliot’s a good cat, and if I can’t be in the Philly Wing Bowl (i don’t reside in the listening area) then he shall represent the name well!
Kick some ass SAVAGE! The more TUT the merrier!!!!

Yes it is Elliot, the Tut from Philly. Met him at the Wing off and he is a nice guy. Hope is keeps the wings down this time.

Oh look, OBI Wing is in it again. He had the most impressive reversal in the history of Wing Bowl. Can’t wait to see him blow it again.

But seriously, there’s a bar in the ‘Burgh who’s been selling the same style wings (red savina pepper) for a couple years now.
http://www.eatdrinkgetugly.com – they do a “challenge” every Wednesday… and did a contest about a year ago.
