azcentral.com has a preview of this weekend’s college football games which says that Eric “Badlands” Booker will do a wing eating contest against students before the University of Buffalo game against Temple. The two teams combined to go 1-21 last season.

Booker has a statement on his retirement on his myspace blog. He says that his third album is expected around Thanksgiving and it will include the anti-AICE track.

    I’m confused. In Eat This Book, Booker said ‘its all good’ & that he ‘understood the true meaning behind his comments’ regarding Arnie’s infamous ‘slavery is over’ comment @ Matzo Balls.

    The worst thing I ever wrote about Booker was a poor showing in Wings ONCE.

    So, I don’t understand why there would be ANY ill will from Badlands to ANYONE associated w/aice.

    Is is just me? Or, does anyone else understand?

    Joe if there is anyone that deserves to hold any ill will towards (certain people associated with aice) it should be me.I dont think i have to rehash you know what im driving at. I cant speak for Badlands but i assume that the aice commentary & opinions regarding hardy booker & jarvis in 2004 contributed to the bad blood .I was there for the chapman tirade at bens in jan 2004. Someone should have videotaped the entire thing.The slavery remark was not a racial slur . He was referring to the waiver form or the contract. I personally thought he made a total ass of himself bursting into the deli like a bat out of hell but two years later it appears that its made its place in competitive eating history if Ryan Nerz could make mention of it somewhere in his book.I believe that tirade led to the eventual demise of the Bens contest. Booker is not the only gifted songwriter to hit the big apple. When i was a teen i used to write songs about rotten kids in my neighborhood. The songs were not very nice . They better hope (aice) that i never decide to pick up the guitar and head into a recording studio. I guarantee they wont like the finished product.

    The UB pre game block party was awesome! I came out and did 2 rap songs from the hungry and focused albums and one from the new album due out Thanksgiving, Jammin Joe LaRue came out and ate wings against UB’s finest eaters and I was on hand to judge and co host. It was a lot of fun.as far as the aice rap, there’s been more than one occasion when chowhound wrote some bad things about me over the years, so now its my turn to vent. PS. The Godfather is on this track as well! Stay Tuned

    I don’t know if Bob, Chip and / or Pat B will be in Buffalo for the wings. If Sonya shows she will cruise to victory. If she doesn’t it will be between Chip and Bob, depending on who attends.

    Nevertheless, with all the bounty up for grabs at various contests this weekend, lots of eaters will get a nice share, and they certainly deserve it.

    Sonya if you’re in Buffalo, eat two or three wings for ol’ Rhonda, and set a new record in the process sweetie! You’re the best female competitive eater in history, and one of the top three of ALL time period!
