Brad Sciullo interview in Mouthpiece Sports

The Mouthpiece Sports blog has an interview with Brad Sciullo about his successful completion of the Belly Bruiser challenge. Brad finishes the interview in the following manner:

It’s opening some eyes. This is great for all competitive eaters. Everyone of us is going to benefit from this because this raises the bar. I’m guaranteeing you that from this day forward bigger numbers will be put up — numbers like no one’s ever seen. Things that make this look ridiculously easy because everyone’s going to realize that this is possible. That someone like myself — who isn’t as good as the top-ranked eaters — can do this this is going to send everyone into a frenzy. And it’s going to be great for the sport in general.

And what’s next:

I’m either going to go back to Denny’s and eat every one of their burgers on their menu in the same day, which will equal about what that burger weighed. I’ll eat the two-pounder, the three-pounder, and the Ye’ Olde 96er in the same day. Or I’m going to do a pizza competition.

God I hope this kid doesn’t do something even more stupid and end up dead. That would pretty much end things for all of us.

Maybe he will have witnesses and video next time so we can believe he actually did what he claims.

I still am not sold he ate this. A lot of eaters went up there and failed. I thought when your eating there is no br breaks. If you look at the pic of the burger where’s the cheese and when they listed the cond. it was the same as the Old 96er something just doesn’t sound right. Why hasn’t he competed in any competitions in Pgh. I know they have eaters there from aice, maybe he can prove himself by beating them. Either way if he really did eat the burger that’s still alot of food to put down but he shoul have stayed at the table the whole time.

I’d say Brad’s a distance & capacity guy, similar to a Rich Lefevre. He got lucky once… at Cannoli. But it’s already been proven, without a shadow of a doubt, that he’s really not that good in 12 minute or less contests.

Maybe, just maybe, since it looks like the IFOCE is shunning him (keeping him out of thier rankings) for doing the Denny’s challenge, he’ll man up and compete in the Pittsburgh Wing Championship Series.

The fact that it’s a 30 minute eat (14/14/2) actually is to his advantage. That’s if he can get out of the First Round.

I guess the IFOCE felt he couldnt be trusted for the future. He could decide at the spur of the moment to do some type of wild eating challenge without their consent. It just proves that even if you have the capacity or a big title for that matter, anyone is expendable if they decide to break the rules

I think the next thing he should do is a timed attempt of each burger. Doing all of them the same day won’t be as big a deal since he already (?) did the bruiser. What is the two pound record, 14 minutes? And the three pounder is 20 minutes. beating those records would cause more of a stir.

I’d like to add that in no way was I saying Brad Sciullo is of equal talent to Rich Lefevre. In addition to being a distance and capacity guy, Rich has proven himself to be a very damn good 12 minute or less eater as well.

Brad is a young man who needs guidance and a sense of direction. I pray he gets it soon. It’s my own belief that his talent could have been developed to fuller potential with the IFOCE. But you can’t take care of someone with no sense of loyalty. I’m so sorry to say this.

Unfortunately, we’ll never know what the top-ranked IFOCE eaters are capable of doing at Denny’s because they’re not even allowed to order the Super Sized double quarter pounder at McDonald’s without prior approval from the front office.

Here’s the problem . If you email or call the ifoce office they wont divulge any info regarding any eater in the organization. I could understand where they are coming from. It’s nobody business . I think that Brad does have the right to know about his status and future with the ifoce instead of making him wait . By leaving him off the ranking list without a formal or written explanation is not professional by any means

The Phillies kicked butt. Watch Mr. Uptown Upton and Mr. Langoria tonight, however. If you’re a Philly fan you’ll want to drown your sorrow in beer. But don’t do that, because it’s bad for you.

nah, the Myers/Ruiz team will give Upton another 0-4 stat to cry about, while performing well themselves at the plate.

I’ll tell you one thing, Upton sure did look confident while going 0/4 didn’t he? I thought that Norfolk, VA native was going to blast one out of the park. If he leaves professional baseball, he might have a future in acting.

You’re right Carey. The Phils should be on top 2-3 after tonights game. Hey Rhonda, I am headed out now for those beers but there will no sorrow involved. Once again, you will be WRONG

This is a competitive eating site not a world series site. If you want to talk baseball go to MLB.com. Cut the bullshit and stick to what makes eatfeats roll and that is badmouthing eaters with personal insults, contest results, gossip , Rhonda Evans and Luther . Now thats what competitive eating is all about and not the Philadelphia Phillies

Dave, read this (OJ referenced this in an earlier post):

    http://www.urbanhonking.com/truefan/archives/2007/02/so_long_dennys.html

It explains why (well, not really WHY IFOCE eaters are not allowed to do challenges) but details the challenge ban.

Anon 1:50 You’re right, we shouldn’t discuss the Phillies here on eatfeats. Let’s post here instead:

GC, thanks, that was a good article. I can understand the IFOCE wanting to keep thier eaters to only eat when someone is paying, but there should be some way the eaters can still do any challenge they want. Maybe make them wear shirts and hats, looking like NASCAR drivers or something.
