The CBC reports that a choking incident occurred in a sweet gulab jamun eating contest held in Surrey, British Columbia today as part of a Diwali festival. The status of the now hospitalized man who choked has not been annouced; he reportedly has a pulse. update VancouverDesi has more information.

    I hope that wasn’t Ken Wong, as he lives in the Surrey area, does he not? Also, ism’t he in his thirties?

    This does not bode well for competitive eating at all. It needs to stop.

    The contest was a few blocks away. I did not know about it since the contest was not advertised.

    Ken, you look really good for your age. Had you stated your birth year was 1965, I would have readily believed it. 🙂
