    Anybody doing Crif Dog is an idiot. Kobi had this contest made for him. He has his face all over the ads. He just made an “apperance” at the Offspring cd release party. Now offspring is a judge. I honestly hope you people don’t think you have a chance at winning. Obviously this thing is rigged.

    You can almost take that exact statement and say the same about Nathan’s and Joey… Joey gets 90% of the broadcasting and media attention while Sonya, Pat, X, Legs, BOB, Juilet and maybe Stonie share 8% and the rest of the men and women share the other 2%.

    Just like Koby vs the field at Crifs, same is said about Joey and the field at Nathan’s… What’s the over under on Joey wining in Vegas 10.5?

    We all know the results, but if you’re posting on tis site, then you obviously follow CE, so it’s not about who is going to win, it’s about seeing the totals and who beats who for the rest of the field… Not to mention Crif dogs will be a nice gauge to see where some of the best Indy eaters could place with the best of MLE.

    I can’t say that people are idiots to eat with Kobi.

    Even though I personally don’t like the path he has chosen as an independent, or his little personal challenges to challenge a just-set MLE record after the fact, he remains THE FACE and THE LEGEND of competitive eating, and when you have a chance to dine with royalty you don’t pass it up.

    If MLE eaters were allowed to eat Crifs with no backlash from MLE, more than a few would participate.

    We already know what the Crap Dog eaters would place in the MLE. Kobi killed them a year ago on the West Coast. Also, besides Stephanie, who couldn’t touch Sonya, and Kobi who regularly got beat by Joey, the rest tried to qualify at Nathan’s and couldn’t do it. Oh wait, Philbin, qualified last year, but got his ass kicked. If the rest could place with the MLE, they would be in the MLE, because they sure aren’t making much money as an independent. Kobi saw his paycheck fading after getting beat by Joey three years in a row and quit the MLE to eat against lame independent eaters he knew he could beat. If an eater could beat Kobi, which no independent can, then Kobi would not have selected that eater. The “other eaters” as they are referred to in local news are just there so it looks like Kobi competed against somebody for credibility and his fragile ego. Even if they are jokes, they’ll just make up better numbers so it won’t look too bad. Oh, and of course they’ll give Stephanie more than forty-one because they have to have her beat Sonya’s record, another angle to maybe get local tv and blog sites nobody’s heard of interested in this joke of a “contest.”

    Wake up, is obviously a MLE loyaltist, I can think of maybe a dozen people you can possibly be, thank you for your opinion. … But for those of us who are fans of the sport, rather it be MLE/INDY/ALL PRO whatever, the more contests that are out there with legit eaters the better! We like looking at results. To the normal person out there just viewing it on TV could care less if so and so ate 30 if they weren’t the winner. Your average veiwer will remember eaters as “that goofy guy”, “Muscular guy” or “the little asian girl”. Not Oh the guy who placed 5th with 35HDB’s…

    Believe it or not, and as much as you hate to hear it Mr. “Wake up” Bobi is still the most recgonizable face/name in the sport and with Pete’s popularity on youtube, one can argue he is just as popular as Joey.

    Maybe you should Wake up!

    Good point: Can’t argue with the facts huh? So, I guess you agree that the eaters Kobi selected to eat against him are subpar to the any top MLE eaters. Who said anything about name recognition? Why just today, Marshon Brooks of the Knicks named Sonya Thomas and Joey Chestnut right off the top of his head. He probably knows who Kobi is too, so what’s your point? I agree, Nathan’s and his years with MLE made Kobi famous. Now he’s squandering that noteriety eating for a rinky dink hot dog company against a bunch eaters several layers lower than any competition he faced in the MLE. In fact, when any reporter writes about Kobi they always refer to his years eating at Nathan’s because that’s the only thing he was known for. Anything Kobi does now after Nathan’s is sidebar stuff and like Crap Dog pretty sad. Reporters know it, everyone knows it except “Team Kobi” jock sniffing sycophants. Wow, Kobi’s so infatuated with the MLE he mentions them in every interview and desperately two years later still hanging on to “Free Kobi” of the MLE — move on if it doesn’t bother you so much that you made a wrong decision to leave MLE. I don’t think Chestnut or Sonya has mentioned Kobi once, except of course when Kobi got arrested trying to relive his MLE days.

    The only comment I’ll offer here regards Johnnie Excel. He’s a great competitor and friend and I sense that he’s being maligned here. He’s never done an MLE contest, never participated in an MLE event (or even an APE or WLOCE event for that matter), but has made significant headway and money as an independent eater. I’d argue he’s earned more than several people on any federation’s roster, and participates in CE-related projects outside of simple contests. Money isn’t the only reason that people participate in this game, but to that end he’s done very well. If there’s a “Furious” Pete model in making it as a competitive eater, I’d say there’s a Johnnie Excel model as well.

    Yeah I agree the eaters Kobi selected to eat against are subpar (but he did choose from the best that is out there that are non MLE) to Pat, X, Sonya, Stonie and BOB. However I’d put Pete, Goose and Stephanie right there with the likes of A-train, Booker, Rabbit, Gravy and The Red. All the other eaters like Excell, Moonachi, Scullio and Brunelli can hang with Wing Kong and Pretty boy and even add that they are better than Yasir and Legs.

    Now that I admitted Kobi is going to dominate at Crifs can you admit Joey is gonna to do the same at Nathan’s?

    The more you preach about how Kobi sucks and how MLE is the all mighty the more I’m wondering who you’re really trying to convince here, me or you? I’m a fan of the SPORT AS A WHOLE… Constantly beating us over the head with the same things time and time again sounds petty and desperate to get your point across, you aren’t winning anybody over.

    Thanks for the correction OJ. I forgot about that one! Not sure if that would totally bar him from doing MLE in the future, but he’s not showing interest in that direction (and perhaps for legitimate reason). Excel never really presented himself as an APE/AICE member, whereas a few other big name eaters did. Opportunities on one’s own are hard to come by.

    I like football, and I’m going to watch the NFL not the Canadian Football League because I want to see the most talented athletes competiting against each other. And, even if the Canadian Footbal League took one of the best NFL players, I still wouldn’t watch the Canadian league. And, that’s what you have when Kobi beats up on these minor leaguers. I never said Kobi sucks. But, how many times does Kobi have to destroy these independents? What’s the fun in watching that? In fact it’s a little sick, that Kobi chooses these people to beat like a drum just so he can get some credibility. When Joey Chestnut laughed at Kobi eating against himself last year calling it practice, Kobi was embarrassed and “Team Kobi” sycophants realized he had to put up some patsies to eat against. I’d rather be a fan of a competitive talented league than watch Kobi time after time embarass people. Sure Kobi might let his hand picked jokers win a few bucks, but how much is your pride and reputation worth that you would gladly bend over for Kobi for money. I mean just recently, Kobi eats 30 tacos in a minute to embarrass the best independent eater who couldn’t eat what Kobi ate in four minutes. Kobi’s just using these indies to do things he couldn’t do anymore against MLE eaters.

    If you look at all the Crif Dog Eaters who were once part of the MLE, you will see that they have beatin Crazy Legs and Pretty Boy about 90% of the time and each eater was rightfully ranked in the top 20.

    I want to reitterate I never said Kobi sucks, he’s just too good for this hand picked crowd of smucks he’s eating against. To answer your other question regarding Nathan’s. Yes the odds are on Chestnut. But Bertoletti seems pretty serious this year, he has beaten Joey in other foods, and I wouldn’t call it money in the bank for Chestnut. Now regarding Crap Dog, Kobi chose his competition. Never ever lost to these people. Do you really think he’s that stupid to choose anyone he could come close to him? If someone could beat him, he’d just eat by himself. Look what he did to those poor guys in tacos — embarrassing. Just imagine the MLE haters outcry if Joey got to choose his competition, he sure as hell wouldn’t pick Bertoletti or Janus. Wait a minute, I take that back, Joey’s a stand up guy and maybe he would pick Bertoletti or Janus out a sense of fairness and competition. Something Kobi seems to have lost when he left MLE.
