The Gloucester County Times reports that Bill "El Wingador" Simmons' bail was reportedly posted earlier today. update Shamrock Bail claims to have posted "El Wingador's" bail. update #2 NJ.com has an article about Simmons' release from jail. update June 26 Philly.com has a column about the release of "El Wingador" which says that family and friends paid the $10,000 bail bond and that his lawyer said he was a drug delivery man.

    So what does that mean ? He is still looking at 5 to 10 yrs if the judge wants to be generous

    After reading what the lawyer has stated now and before, it’s almost as if the Public Defender has basically thrown in the towel and acknowledged that Wingador is guilty as charged, before the trial even begins. I guess if you pay for crap, you get crap. It’s in the state’s and the jury’s hands. I really hope they are merciful, for Bill’s sake.

    He is guilty Rhonda? why take it to a trail, it could take 2-3 years to finish, he has a good chance of getting a reasonably lower sentence if he pleads guilty and is willing to work with the court.

    That sounds like the plan (at least to me) Dax. And perhaps it is in his best interest. It’s just that I’m disappointed that the Public Defender is either inexperienced, has no spunk, or both.

    Often if you plan on pleading guilty, you want to use a public defender they work with the judges on a daily basis and can get thing done faster than layer you have to pay for, Bill just wants to get this done as fast as possible and get back to hanging with the little Asian hot dog guy.

    If Bill Simmons truly was just a mule, transporting the coke from source, to those that prepare the coke, to the dealer, the state deal is to probably get him to turn in and provide evidence for whomever he was transporting. The police want the source, El Wingador may just be a means to get to at that source. The more names he name the lesser the sentence. Some people in the crimeworld may call that a rat fink but that’s his only trump card unless he wants the full weight of the law coming down on him and quite possibly his family, depending on how much they may have known about his “second career”. It’s nasty business.

    Dax if they let him off the hook it sends a message to the dope dealers that their actions are condoned in some sense. Community service probation and or drug rehab is basically letting him off the hook

    I think all drugs should be decriminalization and kind of a conspiracy theorist on how cocaine has become so big in the states. So I feel that he should not do that much time for this crime, a fine and a good amount of community service should be enough.
