In a philly.com article, Bill "El Wingador" Simmons claims he ate 26 hot dogs in the 2003 Nathan's finals and stopped eating before the end of the contest to watch Kobayshi. (According to the eatfeats database, Simmons' personal best in Nathan's is 18 in a 2004 qualifier.

Hold it! He held back? He held back? Come on, give me a break. He could watch Kobi on ESPN about 20 times afterwards. They played that show all summer long. And, lying about your record? Shame. And, shame on Philly.com for not correcting or fact checking their story. See, it’s this kind of willingness to lie that shows Wingador has no problem going along the Wing Bowl scam. I guess when confronted with having five cars or keeping you’re integrity in tact, Wingador chooses five cars.

Damn, well then he should have been listed as finishing third, as Rich was 4th with 25.5 and Sonya was fifth with 25.0—-her first Finals ever.

Is there no end to fabricating numbers? (That was a rhetorical question; I know there isn’t.)

Haha, I remember the sushi on the Glutton Bowl, that was hilarious. That huge woman “Belly Donna” or whatever her name was threw up halfway through and had half her stomach hanging out, but was in second place before puking if I remember correctly.

Really, by reporting a falsehood of such an easily checkable so called fact, Philly.com shows its true colors. But then you think that if El Wing says it, it must be true? The whole thing is just a sham, plain and simple. Who actually gets to pocket what must be the huge profits from same, well likely it goes into the pockets of the creators or their WIP salaries. Imagine how tired they must be of being sham planning drones. It is all a drunken chicken winged extravaganza. Why they bother with the eating contest at all is the mystery. Who really pays attention to it at the event? Likely no one. Every eater who signed up and took it seriously quickly realized what a complete sham it is. Even some reporters, as seen by a comment on another thread.

It took me 30 seconds to find this website. Strange that Philly.com is an internet website and they haven’t heard of Google. Wow, talk about crappy reporting. If anyone subscribes to that Philly.com rag please post a comment on that story, then afterward quickly unsubscribe. Nathan’s doesn’t even mention Simmons because his numbers were too low: http://nathansfamous.com/PageFetch/getpage.php?pgid=53

Another Grace Lee? Is there any honesty any more? He ate 16 dogs at the finals and then told the media he’s never doing Nathans again. At least he kept his word on something

This guy seems to love himself way too much. He was recently heard on the radio saying he eats 10-15 pounds of food each morning as part of his training. Sounds like bull to me. This guy never ate 10 pounds of food, never ate more then 16 hot dogs and never was a good eater.

El wingador belittles the people who actually hit the duce by falsifying his totals, I really beat him in 2002 at the wing Bowl ,3 plates where lost from my tally and I still came in 3rd ,

I think Wingador just got the years mixed up. He was at the finals in 2004, not 2003.

However, no way did the man eat 26 at the finals, especially if he couldn’t even eat more than 30 or so Krystals at the qualifier that year.

And I hardly think he stopped eating HDBs just to watch Koby. When he did stop, at whateverr number, I’m certain the limiting factor was stomach capacity, versus focusing on Koby.

But, WB is a drama, and I guess he was adding to it.
