There are like 40 kinds of Johnsonville sausages, and like 5 kinds of bratwursts on the market. The sizes vary greatly. The ones used in Sheboygan don’t wiggle like that.

Looking at the time of 20 in 2.5 minutes- it would seem that Pete was on track to do quite well compared to Koby….

Seriously…Johnsonville makes many kinds of sausages and many sizes of bratwursts. Go to several grocery stores. Compare their labels. Some varieties differ by an ounce per sausage. You cannot say a Johnsonville Brat is a Johnsonville Brat is Johnsonville Brat.

Hard to say if Pete would have challenge Koby’s 58 in 10 minutes. 20 in 2:30 (a quarter of the time) is good, but obviously he wouldn’t keep up that pace for the full 10 minutes.

That’s the advantage of Pete’s nonaffiliation with the IFOCE. There are more than a dozen excellent eaters who aren’t MLEs, and Pete is certainly the best of that lot right now. And as long as Pete’s winning record remains outstanding, a valid argument can be made that Pete is the best eater in the world.

It’s sort of like the Japan’s Gluttonous Queen (whether it be Gal Sone or The Witch, Sugawara) being classified as the world’s best female eater, though neither dares to take the risk of eating against “The Black Widow.”

Like Ric Flair used to say, “To BE the man, you’ve got to BEAT the man.” But then again, that’s subjective, and perhaps it’s more important to keep alive the idea of what might be, versus giving in to pride and getting your a** handed to you.

So, all things considered, Pete’s doing the right thing.
