That’s generous of him to accept other peoples money so he doesn’t have to get a job. Some of this videos are entertaining but for the most part he comes off pretty annoying and he isn’t that impressive doing the thing that made his name…eating.

I beg to differ Jam . Pete has made a name for himself but in well deserved fashion. He overcame a serious health issue and turned things around to make things better for himself and used it to further his career . Some of these other dunces like LA Beast Bob Shoudt US Male have someone create t- shirts actually believe that their autographs are worth something . Its worth about as much as Seiken CD stick to blogging which means next to nothing

Some people ask for heart transplant donations & other organs to survive. Some people ask for clothes & blankets to stay warm during the winter months. Others ask for food and toiletries because they don’t really have any. Then others ask for money to pay for their trips around the world haha wow

I know my autograph isn’t worth anything, but the people who do watch what I do on YouTube have asked for it. I don’t charge for it and the postage and envelopes are on my dime. I just do it to give back to those who support what I do. That’s all. Don’t hate.

That’s the problem with society as a whole . We are spoiled rotten. You expect everything to be free of charge. Sure ill watch Pete videos as long as i dont have to pay to watch them why not?. What if youtube charged $1 for every video you upload ? or $1 to watch a youtube video? The way most of you cheapskates are i bet youtube would be out of business in a few months. Hes not saying he wont post videos anymore but donating a few bucks to offset the cost of production and the time and effort he puts into the videos is not asking for much. Show your appreciation instead of cop a plea that the guy is all full of himself. You people make me sick

When you say get a job there are different variables attached to it. Most competitive eaters are living very comfortably and not struggling to make ends meet like others. Some moved away from folks but know that if times get rough they always have mommy and daddy to fall back on. Most have second incomes wife works etc . Some live at home with their mom and dad and dont pay rent . Some live in states where cost of living is relatively cheap paying maybe $300 month rent with holding down 2 jobs not including wives income and collecting disability on the side. Then if you suggest dining out they have the balls to tell you i have to watch my pennies cause money is tight . . That’s real cheap if you ask me. My heart does not bleed for some of these eaters. They own homes they have 2 automobiles and their kids education is paid for. Some guys have all the luck i wonder who?

I think pete was asking for money to production help, not that he was going to charge for videos, just if you could help with production then it is appreciated. I’m pretty sure he already makes a decent living from Youtube, TV Show, T-Shirt sales etc.

@10:40, of course YouTube would go out of business if it charged money. Do you have any clue how it operates? Free content attracts viewers, tons of viewers attract advertisers, advertisers want to place adds to be seen by all the viewers and Youtube charges them. Pete’s videos, while sometimes entertaining, are not worth paying for. I’m sorry they take so much time and money to make but that’s his choice to do. Why should we be responsible for funding his hobbies? It’s not being cheap its just common sense. I’d be a lot more impressed and have a little respect for him if he didn’t have to ask for handouts. That should be your absolute last resort but instead its his first option.

Does he not make money off all the BS youtube advertisements that people have to suffer through to watch his videos?

You don’t have to defend yourself Beast but I’m glad you do. The hate comes from jealousy, it’s a sick emotion that brings out the worst in people. It’s clear that Pete has done his own thing and been successful, one of the very few in this small but hungry community who has. I know I have had many opportunities over my years of eating that I could have expanded and run with if I had the courage and resources, like a lot of us. But again, only a few have succeeded at making a career out of their eating talent and I applaud all of you, because it takes balls.

221 you are right . I think you have to be a youtube member for a certain amount of time before you can quality for a monetization program which means an ad is placed on all your videos and when a viewer watches that ad even if its just for a few seconds , the owner of the vid gets paid . Correct me if i am wrong but i think for every 20 thousands hits, YT sends you a check for $100. If thats the case add up Pete or Beasts hits on each of their videos and they made a modest profit

Do you need to fill out an application before your donation is accepted ? I only ask because sometimes certain people money is not accepted and its sent back to them

Erik, it’s my belief that while jealousy does play a part in others’ resentment toward successful eaters–and a large part, at that–it is also because most people, even many of the eaters themselves, look at CE as a joke–a sideshow–far from a sport.
While I have no statistics to back it up, based on what I read, see, and hear, I think that the number of people who think CE is deplorable, and absolutely abhor it, is probably 20 times the number who actually embrace and follow it.
As long as that’s the case, the “hate,” as you call it, will be the norm.
I agree, it does take courage to market yourself, in spite of all the negativity. I have lots of respect for Furious Pete. His ability to market himself is right up there with his outstanding CE prowess. I wish him and LA Beast the best!

Putting others down does nothing to elevate oneself. That attitude is for and of losers. It would be very interesting to do a study, for example, to examine the correlation between an eater’s perceived level of success in the sport and the number or intensity of negative comments about other eaters. Results would quickly come to light that those who often or intently criticize others have had little success and are even littler people. Such people are likely very insecure and lack confidence in themselves, even though they may talk a good game.
One doesn’t elevate oneself by downing others. Such behavior often does the opposite. People who live in glass houses should especially not throw stones. They can have a strength-gaining boomerang effect.
Like I said before, the good eaters — and the noble people — are smart enough to refrain from engaging in gossipy rhetoric. But perhaps that’s all some people feel they have to hold on to.

He says that if each of his 70,000 subscribers gave $1 he could continue with his world tours . Hasnt he visited most foreign countries like Sweden Ireland Denmark Germany Japan and not to mention almost everywhere in the U.S ? He has been all over the world thanks to sponsorships where some people cannot even afford to travel past the state they live in.
