The news around town is that the contest was moved to a saturday after recent outbursts from eaters. The other word on the street is that record holder joey chestnuts will not be competing due to a ruptured stomach after drinking 3 gallons of water in 4 minutes.
Updated 1/10 3:09 pm – This is a false rumor which Joey Chestnut has denied. IFOCE.com also claims that the grilled cheese finals will be on Wednesday – ojrifkin

Hey C. J., where do you get your info on Joey Chestnut or is this just an unsubstantiated rumor you’re trying to get started? There is no reason to take this seriously unless you are somehow privy to information that no one else is. I don’t believe it just by the way you have presented it . Let’s put this nonsense to rest and admit that you have no basis for this.

I agree whoever puts rumors like that out there can send the media into a frenzy and you can really do damage to the future of potential sponsorship . I hope that it’s not true and that you guys are verifying your sources before you print something like that.

Come on, Chestnut will be there. Joey is tough and you know his stomach is not ruptured from drinking water, give me a break. Do you remember at the Verizon Chicken wing finals in Boston? Joey fell behind the stage as Rich Shea intoduced him and he was walking up to the table, he fell behind the stage! Well, I could see he was embarrassed when he got up, his face was red, and yes it was funny, although I wasn’t laughing because I was focused on eating, but he got up and kicked some ass. He deserves some respect. But I guess rumors are a way to create fame and anticipation, so whatever it is, he will be there.

I’m still going without the hyphens. It’s been incredibly liberating. You know, long ago, when I had the hyphens, I ran into a real problem: what to do with my initials. With the hyphens, I wasn’t sure if my initials were W.-T.-S.-W., which is pain in the ass to type, or W.T.S.W., which is much easier. Now that I’ve gotten rid of the hyphens, I don’t have to think about it anymore.
As much as I enjoy moronic comments, I’m not a big fan of ones that threaten the image of our sport. Who is C.J.? Out yourself, bitch! Your comment wasn’t even creative.

Thanks for checking in, Joey. We all knew that it was false. By the way, is this C.J. trying to make people think he is a certain competitive eater with those same initials? I think e-mails should be verified when comments like that are made.

There was no truth to my last statement. I said it merely to stir up the eating community. I was displeased that I will not get to witness the greatness that will be in new york on the 3rd because it is on a wedensday. I wish chestnut the best of luck. And I hope mr. negativity drops dead.
