Ham steak contest in Richmond June 24?

The calendar on Badlands Booker’s myspace page announces that he will appear at the Virginia State Lottery Ham Steaks Contest in Richmond on June 24. This contest does not appear on the IFOCE list of contests.

Updated June 12 1:50 PM Ian Hickman has confirmed that the Virginia Lottery will sponsor a contest on the 24th in Lynchburg, not Richmod. Sonya Thomas is expected.

A new goldenpalace rib contest in Memphis on July 3 has also been announced.

Puttin two and two together, it looks like the Ham Steak event that Sonya is expected to attend is not IFOCE sanctioned since Ian Hickman an AICE eater corrected the location. Maybe Sonya is leaving the IFOCE. I hope so. The AICE could really use her and would probly be welcomed much more than she is in IFOCE. Way to go Sonya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I said befure they don’t deserve her and maybe she knows it.

As much as I’d like to compete against Booker, the Ham Steak contest is a sanctioned IFOCE event. I looked into the competition since it was a short drive and also not listed on their website. According to the VA lottery spokesperson, “an eating organization” was hired to bring on professional eaters “Eric” and “Sonya.” Common sense answered my question. I am not sure if registration is still open for IFOCE eaters, but the spokesperson mentioned that Harley Davidson riders/members would have their chance at the table.
OJ does alot on this site by himself so passing on any additional info eaters or fans may come across is beneficial I’m sure.

Thanks Rhonda and Don both class acts in my book. If Rhonda’s tone of text is not your cup of tea remember that someone in this forum pissed her off so she has a right to defend herself. You go girl! As far as making it to Nathans i picked two of the toughest contests to compete in Shea and Molly Pitcher. Humble Bob will be competing at Shea along with Charles Hardy’s son and who knows who else will show. Pitcher will feature Don Lerman, Jim Reeves. Pat Philbin, Allen Goldstein, Hardys son and a few others i guess. If i ever pulled off the upset of the century i picked the right qualifiers to do so. My odds would bear a striking similarity to Mike Tyson Buster Douglas Tokyo . I will do my best

I’m quite sure that event is NOT open for registration or it would have been publicized as such. It’s simply an appearance by two eaters representing the IFOCE. That’s the problem with blogs, they are rumor and propoganda factories, which often lead to misunderstandings and gross inaccuracies. No wonder the real pros stay away. They see the light, and it’s a train!

Bubba I think the AICE wouldn’t mind if one of their eaters was in an IFOCE event. The issue is the other way around.

Ian dont even think about entering an IFOCE event . You were able to pull it off in Ohio with watermelon last year because it was Ryan Nerz you were dealing with. Try that BS now with the shea’s and i can guarantee they will tell you to take a walk Besides your face was all over MTV . I think everyone knows who you are
