Ian Hickman in “Pros vs. Joes” pizza contest

From ConnectionNewspapers.com:

Don Corleone’s Brick Oven Pizzeria will hold a Pros vs. Joes Pizza Challenge Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m., at the restaurant, in Sterling, VA (Washington, DC area).

Waleed Zarou, owner of Don Corleone’s Brick Oven Pizzeria, is looking for average men, women and children to compete against three celebrity guests including World Boxing Council (WBC) champion Jimmy Lange, who was featured on NBC’s reality television show The Contender, Washington Redskins football player Kedric Golston and professional eater Ian Hickman, who was featured on MTV’s True Life: I’m a Competitive Eater.

“I’m hoping a lot of people will come out and challenge these guys,” Zarou said.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $5, and each ticket includes a slice of pizza and chance to compete against the professionals.

Proceeds will go to East Africa Missions.

update A mini documentary about the Washington, DC hot dog contest won by Ian Hickman earlier this month has been uploaded to youtube.

Yes, Sterling, VA is “in the area of D.C., but it’s still damn near an hour away. Sonya’s Alexandria is much closer than Sterling. It’s a shame she can’t be there also to compete alongside Ian and the others, because it would be fun, as well as very convenient..

Sonya, if you’re reading this, put on a wig and a disguise and come as an “average Joe.” Have some fun. What the hell! What’s the worst that can happen? MLE sues you? I think not.
