Issues with MLE twitter trivia contest
Yesterday’s MLE trivia contest on twitter incorrectly claimed that the easternmost Nathan’s qualifier took place in Beijing, China (longitude 116° East). Rhonda Evans received no response to her mention of the qualfiers held in Tokyo (long. 139° E) won by Nobuyki “The Giant” Shirota in 2004 and Kenji Oguni in 2005 & 06.
The Japanese contests may not actually be the easternmost Nathan’s qualifiers. A 2009 hot dog eating contest held in Fiji (long. 178° E) claimed the winner would receive a trip to New York City to compete in the finals if s/he ate more than 50 hot dogs.
Jim Mullen, supposedly the first winner of the Nathan’s contest in 1916, was the answer to one of the questions which contradicts Mortimer Matz, Nathan’s promoter before the Sheas, claim to have fabricated the Nathan’s contest origin story in a 2010 New York Times interview.

In this whole thread it is the author of this site who is unbiased. That person pointed out a M.L.E. discrepancy based on fact. If the M.L.E. organization does not correct their wrong, or does not admit to their error then that sheds light on just how biased and unfair those people who run that organization are. O.J. Rifkin merely reported the facts!

The grand prize to the winner of the trivia contest receives a complimentary pass to the backstage bullpen at the Nathans finals for free hot dogs and fries which is no big deal because Jo Rose was issued the same pass from a Nathans judge and got the same freebies

Do you honestly want to know who Rhonda Evans is? In 2004 Verizon Wings contest in Bethesda MD, Seiken had to use the urinal and some black dude in his early 40’s followed him in the bathroom and struck up a conversation as he was peeing and farting in the adjacent urinal . I am not making any of this up

It’s my own opinion that the sequence is not important here. It’s the components of the emissions that must be considered. Involved is liquid, the pee, and gas, the fart. Which came first should not matter, as long as the two actions occur within five or so seconds of one another.

I spoke to him about the Evans story and it appears i got the year wrong . It was 2005. The guy was all hyper about Sonya winning the qualifier and it sounded like Rhonda Evans text. He could have pissed in the toilet but he felt the need to pull up next to seiken urinal while emitting 5 seconds of loud gas before he urinated. He might not have washed his hands after he pissed but thats unconfirmed

I have an idiea . Why doesnt eatfeats hold a trivia session. It would shed an entire new light to the site and get rid of some of the hostility and negativity that has taken over . I think it might work and you dont need to post a real name either. Like a friendly game of Monopoly or chess . My first trivia question is What year was the last Nathans qualifier held , who won it and who took the place of the winner in Coney Island? Bet you have a hard time with that one

OJ, thanks for that! I thought Tokyo was east of China. The contest is a fun way of winding down from a work week, even when I don’t participate. It’s good stuff, and Wild Bill is definitely impressive!
On another note, I don’t think I’ll ever see the person BB’s fan was alluding to in any of the public bathrooms I use. If I do he’ll be unceremoniously shown the door!
