That is terrific for Jamie. He can be part of All Pro which still calls itself independent but be a solo also for pay. Best of all worlds.

JAMIE: Hi, Billy this is Jamie McDonald, happy birthday! BILLY: I’m sorry do I know you? JAMIE: I’m a top competitive eater, my brother, my manager, says I’m a legend. BILLY: Why are you calling me again? JAMIE: Well your mom paid $99.00 for me to call you on you birthday. BILLY: What for? JAMIE: To talk about how great I am. BILLY: Okay … did you ever beat Joey Chestnut? JAMIE: No, I actually lost to him several times. BILLY: Well, how about Takeru Kobayashi, you must have beaten him to claim to be a top competitive eater? JAMIE: Nope, I lost to him too. BILLY: So, what have you done? What was it like competiting at Nathan’s? JAMIE: Well, I never really ate at Nathan’s, but I did beat a girl once who competed at Nathan’s. BILLY: Cool, what was it like competing against the Black Widow? JAMIE: Well, it wasn’t Sonya Thomas I competed against, it was Stephanie Torres she lost to the Black Widow. BILLY: Stephanie Torres? Remind me again why you are calling me? JAMIE: Well, I recently won the Wing Bowl in Philadelphia. BILLY: Isn’t that contest rigged? JAMIE: Well, some say … yeah I guess it’s rigged. BILLY: Listen I gotta go. JAMIE: Hold on, we still need to talk about how great I am. BILLY: Yeah, good luck with that [click].

I wonder how fellow Thuzio member Kobayashi feels about Jamie’s billing as the #1 ranked independent competitive eater when a more accurate description would be #1 among people who have participated in APE/AICE contests.

He should be used to it cause he hasnt been number one since almost a year before he left the Major circuit.

Scene opens to a corporate event. COWORKER #1: Who’s that meathead over by the shrimp bar? Does he work here? COWORKER #2: His name is Jamie McDonald, he tried to call my brother Billy on his birthday. My mom actually paid him $99.00 thinking she was getting that Kobayashi guy. He’s actually lost to every top competitive eater, but delusionally claims he’s a top champion. COWORKER #1: Couldn’t we have gotten somebody like Joey Chestnut? COWORKER #2: Yeah, but we thought it would be funny if we got this “inspirational” joker instead. There’s this sad Thuzio company that charges for washed up sports guys and losers to come to events. So, we talked to his brother/manager into waiving his fee and just giving him all the shrimp he could eat. His ego actually thinks he’s somebody would pay to meet him. I just hope we can get this kid to get up and give advice us about how to become a “legend” while still living with your parents. Just living the dream baby! COWORKER #1: Looks like the roids have gone to his head. Is he actually wearing a tee shirt with APE on the front? I’m not sure if that’s a description or some kind of group. I give it a year and he’ll go from eating hot dogs competitively to selling hot dogs from a stand out front. Winning!

Hahahahaha wait he really thinks he can be considered in the same class as Kobi? Hahahahaha really? Ur NO Kobi bro. No matter what u think u can do or what record u set Kobi did it first. He will always be the best. U will never come close to his greatness. He paved the way for washed up juice heads like u to even compete. U need a reality check. U won a rigged chicken eating contest and all the sudden u think ur a star? Hahahahaha

The greatest Major League baseball players in the history of the sport never hit 50 or even 40 home runs in their rookie year. Jamie went up against the top eaters in MLE when he was starting to get his feet wet. Put him up against the big boys now and i bet it will be an entirely different scenario

1156 151& 230 now who else could this possibly be? Someone that perceives Jamie as a threat to their territory
A. someone ranked in the top 4 in the ifoce rankings ?
B. Eater buried in the bottom of IFOCE rankings
C. Some outsider wannabe eater with nothing better to do
Survey says A

All of the nasty comments here have no power, nor do the positive ones except for how this site eatfeats is perceived by many. Personally I think it puts some eaters in a really poor light and reflects badly upon the sport as a whole. But they are just comments. Jamie managed to get to http://www.tabletmag.com/scroll/125305/life-lessons-at-a-hamantaschen-eating-contest and that is a pretty place to be, to reach people who might just pay some money for whatever reasons to meet him. It isn’t always about who is number one or thought to be or in what category. There are other personalities within the sport who could entertain as well. Pat B. could cook for people and talk about food, etc. Kobayashi led the way again in this. Is Thuzio going to tell us how much each person makes? Of course not. But they must have some reason for setting prices. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

None of the above you say? Its not the Sheas. They have no time for this nonsense. Its obviously one of the top 4 ranked eaters that take offense to Jamie getting the spotlight because he hasn’t beaten them yet. Its so obvious. If not then you be the judge and name the source ok?

Jamie and is brother/manager need to stop the misinformation. First, it’s okay them to be “hating’ and slam Chestnut, Kobayashi, and the other top eaters who have and could beat him, but still say McDonald’s is as good. They cry “hater” foul when people point out facts about Jamie and his greedy egotistical attitude. Get it straight, he lost to all top eaters, knew he would continue to lose, and because of that stopped doing MLE contests. The top eaters got to be top eaters by sticking with competing against top talent. McDonald ran from top talent and now eats against average APEs and amateurs. McDonald and his brother never had innovative idea in their life. Just saw how other eaters got to greatness, and saw a road to make fast money based on their hard work, myths about Jamie, and outrageous claims of his greatness. Fact, McDonald only had a moderately good first year when compared to the mind blowing first years of eaters like Kobayashi, Thomas, Chestnut, Bertoletti, Shoudt, etc. The McDonald crew even saw “Furious” Pete’s niche in competitive eating and thought they could steal a piece of his action. For McDonald’s crew competitive eating doesn’t matter, feeding Jamie’s ego, and making money is all they care about. This Thuzio thing is proof.

Whoa whoa whoa, 8:18….you can’t say he was getting his feet wet when he ate for MLE. He had done about fifty contests and challenges in a three-month span. It was as if he didn’t have a job or a life, moreso than the talent he competed against, who compete in challenges/contests only every few weeks.

Jealous much? How you make such matter of fact statements about Mr. McDonald is just plain laughable. Feable, baseless and envy driven asinine innuendo. You are a dope or on dope.

Anony 10:56, thanks for providing true insight by personally attacking those of being on dope, jealous, feeble, asinine who we now know have accurately pointed out that Jamie McDonald is basing his career on falsehoods of greatness and bogus legendary claims. Because, when you can only resort to name calling and are unable to argue facts, you only legitimize the accuracy of the truth that has been exposed. So, now McDonald’s crew has made it clear. McDonald will continue to allow naive management of his time in competitive eating be based on overflated achievements. This fact is further underscored by the premature and idiotic move to Thuzio, and how APE and McDonald’s crew desperately try to defend the decision. How many times have we’ve seen this before? Thuzio will be looked on that it was only a matter of time before McDonald would inevitably join the ranks of those like Ben Monson, Susan French, Grace Lee, and all the other visionless competitive eating failures only driven by an egotistical quest to create false fame and fast money, over development of true talent, actually gaining deserved achievements, and doing the hard work that might eventually reap long-term earned benefits. Jamie you are now entering 13 minutes of your 15 minutes of fame.
