AOL News has a new interview with Takeru Kobayashi where he says that he would have won the 2010 Nathan's finals and set a new record if he had participated in that contest. Kobayashi's court appearance is still scheduled for August 5.

    We will never know if Koby would have won or not. As far as him setting a new record. No way! The heat index would have taken a toll on him just like it did the other eaters.

    If Koby really and truly believes he would have won Nathan’s, then I hope his decision to not sign the IFOCE contract was worth more than $30 K ($10 K from Nathans and $20 K from Pepto Bismol.)

    And now no Krystals? That’s another $20K out the window, as I believe Koby would win that like he did last year.

    I’m starting to think Koby will soon regret listening to his business manager.

    I’ve always believed that’s actually much more of a statement about oneself than the one its directed toward, which evolves out of anger toward and jealousy and fear of Koby.

    SPBBBMBBB: No, I surely didn’t expect him to say that, but there is quite a lot of middle ground between those two extremes.

    Right now Koby is not Koby. He doesn’t act or sound like the guy I have known many years.

    I don’t know if he’s P’whipped, brainwashed, or both. (If he’s P’whipped … he can do better!)But, either way, once he and/or she come to his/her/their senses, Koby will re-sign with the IFOCE.

    In Philly, they would have tazed Koby when he rushed the stage. Could be worse.

    I think this little exercise in Capitalism is good for Koby, Nathans and the IFOCE. After winning a few hundred dollars in local wing contest money in the next few month, he may come to appreciate that the IFOCE has been able to bring him the very best sponsors, worthy competitors, and the media attention he is accustomed to. The IFOCE and Nathans now respect that he is willing to walk away from the table. They have seen the massive media power he can generate. Everyone in this country heard at least SOMETHING about this last 4th.

    I believe it’s just a matter of time before they work something out. Unless you’re dead, everything can be fixed.

    The worst day of my life is when this fake anonymous asshole decided to make a niche for himself in competitive eating. Happy Birthday? I pray a major virus hits this blog while at the same time the shithead is exposed for the phony fraud that he is. Most of OJ Rifkin loyal supporters claim i make up lies and print anything but the truth but in actuality i get my info from accurate sources which are the participants of the sport. Most or almost all of OJ info is from the net. He relies on google to support his blog and because of that, most of you morons make him out to be some sort of a genus. To the braniac that claims i make up stories, what stories are you referring to? The made up truth stories regarding some of the eaters in the IFOCE that are too painful to admit? The made up story that there will be no Krystal squareoff this year? I would say 75% of my editorial is fact and the rest unconfirmed or speculation . On occasion some eaters might change their mind about which contest they will be competing at which might explain the other 25% speculation or fiction. But i am beating against a dead horse for most of you refuse to listen to what i have to say anyhow because you hate. hate hate. The truth hurts when bits and pieces basically tells it like it is month by month

    Brian, no one goes to your site, because honestly it’s horrible. The layout is horrific, it makes my eyes hurt. This is a nice clean site for the eyes and has just about all the information needed and easily accessible. Try swapping up your layout, use some paragraphs breaks, and stop talking so much unwarranted shit on here and maybe you’ll be back in business.

    There are some people who visit Seiken’s site because they feel sorry for him. Why it is hard to imagine. He makes it very difficult for anyone to like him. He keeps saying that he is in touch personally with the eaters, but actually most avoid him or avoid telling him anything because they know it will be printed incorrectly, made into something it isn’t. They might be polite when they see him but do not confide in him or toot his horn. He calls that two faced, it seems. Despite what he keeps saying over and over, his information and fans seem to be three, The Three Stooges, Subich, Seiken and Toro. Sonya never says anything bad about anyone, praises everyone, Badlands the same. So we are back to The Goon Squad, ready to punch people out. Not sure how that fits into competitive eating. People who try to help him with constructive criticism just get slammed. What’s the point of supporting him, anonymous or not.

    I agree w/ SPBBBBMBBB. The IFOCE/MLE would be better off having a single Web site. The others they maintain on lifestyles, news, and such are rarely updated, and that sends a message like they really don’t care … which they do (I think?!).

    Better to have a single large, current, informative site with all the tabs you need than have multiple sites w/ outdated info.

    Seiken’s idea of burying the hatchet could be funny if he were not serious. Basically, he promises to “behave”, whatever that means, as long as ojrifkin gives him what he wants. When people negotiate things, they always have to take into account trust. They also have to decide whether or not things are simply non-negotiable. I think the non-negotiable applies here.

    Where does Seiken get the idea that he is entitled to something? The silence speaks because basically what Seiken wants is free rein, free ride, no responsibility, little effort. I think eatfeats is quietly saying a form of “We do not negotiate with terrorists.” Seiken isn’t a terrorist in the way we now think of the word, but he certainly is a terror.

    Seiken needs to be reminded again and again, he has control over his site, oj controls eatfeats. Every website and blog has comment moderation. Seiken’s accepted comments on this site are exactly what buries him every time. He does this to himself. If he would spend a tiny amount of time developing his site to make it better he would be far more rewarded. His choice. Yes, anonymous speaking here. It would seem that anyone, anonymous or not is not going to be heard by Seiken. Again, his choice.

    For Seiken to say he is holding back from spilling the beans is perhaps the biggest laugh of all. Tell us, yes, just who are these people? What beans? Has Seiken ever held back anything? Please, do yourself a favor and us a favor and do not answer that Seiken. Seiken is not a reporter because reporters do fact checking and try to maintain a good reputation. He seems to be a gossip columnist, something many people really like. If he could have only maintained that on his site and with some editing kept his friends and sources without “this” other behavior both here and there, people would be visiting his site regularly.     Read right: No apology, for not having the sense to even bring Sonya into this discussion and infer that she might lie or be a fake, well that’s Brian’s prerogative. I cling to the hope that Brian knows better. If he does think the world of Sonya he should know she’s very protective of her private life, close friends, and private discussions. Everyone has the right to defend themselves. It’s just that in the circle we hang and in these types of forums we tend to shy away from using the good name of our friends to do so. I’m sure Sonya wants the best for Brian and he always makes her laugh. But in this case I think he let her down. If Brian doesn’t see it that way that’s okay too. I just thought he would like to know how those, who are somewhat close to Sonya, sees it.

In no way shape or form should her name be brought up or attached to the words “fake & liar” But some of her class has to be questioned now that she has decided to take back what she said 2yrs ago just to save face. BTW is the individual that edits Sonyatheblackwidowthomas.com one and the same? Seems as if the one that competes in contests is far from the one that controls her website

    Let’s do the numbers

    From 2001 – 2004 Kobayashi earned no money through IFOCE until Krystals 2004 for $!0,000
    From then to the present, he earned $90,500 with the biggest payouts being from Krystals.

    Since April 2005 when he began competitive eating Chestnut has earned $249,300 with the largest payouts again being Krystals.

    At present there has been no word about Krystals 2010, and it is almost August 1st.

    Draw your own conclusions about the benefits and non benefits of signing a very restrictive contract with MLE on the part of Kobayashi. They did not sponsor his visa, he did that all himself.

    It is quite possible that Kobayashi no longer wants to be in the IFOCE. He wanted to prove that he could again be champion at Nathan’s, thus offering to eat for no prize money but refusing to sign restrictions on commercials and other opportunities. Since that window has definitely closed, and with basically IFOCE being responsible for his being arrested, it will be interesting to see the next chapter.

    Krystal sponsors must have told the sheas no Kobe no squareoff. Now the sheas have to decide whether to give into Kobe demands to eat whereever he pleases. If they do which they wont, the same has to apply to the other IFOCE members. . This would not apply to the other sponsors such as Buffalo where Kobe presence doesnt matter one way or another. Some of these former MLE sponsors run their events regardless of whether or not MLE is a participant

    I often thought the same thing, with respect to Krystals having a “No Koby, No Krystals” stance. It’s plausible.

    Or, there well may be a delayed Krystals event with or without the IFOCE, but definitely with Koby, should there be a Krystals CE event.

    Or it could simply amount to Koby doing a single exhibition to see if he can break his own record, as he had little competition last year.

    Krystals’ needs Koby much more than they do the Fed right now. The reigning Krystal Champion is not under IFOCE contract, slaughtered the world’s number 1 eater last year, and accomplished that in an eating, as opposed to a drinking, event.

    Krystals can also get also get more bang for their buck, cutting out the IFOCE middle men, as well as expenses associated with the qualifiers, the finals, and paying out prize money to 11 eaters who have little more chance of topping Koby than Furious Pete or Dale Boone.

    Smart move on Krystals’ part, yet unfortunate for MLE and its cast.

    Or it could also be the economy is still in the crapper and they just do not think the pay off is worth it. They have been cutting back expenses for years on the tour.
