Registration is now open for the Nathan's qualifier in Houston on April 30. Registration will open at noon Pacific / 3 pm eastern for the Las Vegas qualifier on April 23. update Registration for the National Sweet Corn Eating Championship in West Palm Beach on April 24 is also open.

    Erik, sometimes the CA qualifier, if there even is one, is up north. Las Vegas would be closer. And you never who is going to show up at any qualifier. Fortunately, Matt and Joey do not need to qualify this year.

    Erik: it’s only been held there the last two years. The locations vary. They have had them in Hawthorne and Escondido California in the past. Sometimes in Phoenix, AZ. They were in San Jose, San Francisco, San Bruno, Daly City, and Los Angeles in the distant past. If they know and young star wants to join Nathan’s, they will have one in his city, a la Scott Bickel in 2011 in Cleveland. But overall, qualifiers on the west coast are far and few between, since there are fewer Nathan’s.

    Lesley: they have gyoza in the the summer in SoCal. Not sure if pie will happen again. Sometimes contests come and go. You have to be willing to travel to NorCal/northern Nevada. There they have pumpkin pie, ribs, tacos each year, plus silver dollar pancakes this year (new event). They also had spaghetti in Las Vegas last year.
